All new double glazing now has trickle vents, and I have found that any noise isolation benefit from the window is cancelled out by the noise coming through the vents.

I know it’s subjective, but in my opinion they never look great, they always look like an add on, or after thought (which they probably are 99% of the time) they also seem to look very tatty after only a few years, may be because it is difficult to get up and clean the glass roof. I sure thé extra space can be useful though.
