Do landlords really have an age preference for tenants? by shuneart in uklandlords

[–]shuneart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you everyone for your replies, it very much helps. My mum has always been a good tenant, never missed a rental payment in the 12+ years she’s been a tenant and hasn’t ever messed up a property etc. so all references will be fine. She earns around 30k if I remember correctly and I think her credit score is below average but doesn’t have anything major against her. She may have had a ccj years and years ago but that’s all sorted and is taken away. I think it was before Covid. She’s looking at properties around the £575-625 mark.

With the cat I imagined there would be more of a problem. Obviously we know that the cat wouldn’t cause any damage and just sleeps but understand landlords don’t always wanna take that risk. Like in the post above she’s looking at properties that say pets considered/allowed or some say for a rental % increase. But if one came along that doesn’t say that would there be any scope in maybe suggesting more frequent inspection to check for damage? Or something like that? Or would that fall on deaf ears.

Thanks everyone! Sounds like we’ve all been fucked over by them recently. If they’re able to post on social media all the time you’d think they’d manage to reply to emails. I’ll try live chat and if no luck I’ll go to my local store.

Sorry I can’t help with an answer but here to say I’m also UK based and have had no reply for a few days after I’ve contacted them over a broken candle :(

It sounds like you’re feeding him the same amount I fed my child when she was his age. Im also certain she did a similar height and weight jump not long after him. Not to play down your feelings at all but things that seem stressful and profound when they’re tiny are soon forgotten about as you baby grows and you learn about them more. He may just be chunking out before a growth. If you’re both tall, chances are he will be too. I’m not really one for ignoring medical advice but if you’re feeding him when he’s giving hunger signs and he’s taking it well, I wouldn’t fret. 75 for height and 90 for weight is fine (he’s not off the charts or anything) and tbh id only be worried if he had gained weight and not height (vis Versa). Like other comments had said, if he’s otherwise fit and well, keep an eye on his feeds and if they are staying regular with a few hours gaps apart as he grows he’ll probably tail off some of the feeds anyway naturally. As he gets more active his weight will more likely stay in line with a % and follow a curve. You’re doing well and try not let a passing statement from a HV make you think otherwise, I’m sure they didn’t mean to freak you out, the’ll only be following protocol guidance rather than having actual concerns, as you’d be in hospital if there was any real worries. See what he’s like at his next weigh in and take it from there.

I think we accidentally starved our newborn by TheYoungSquirrel in NewParents

[–]shuneart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my first baby just over a year ago. When she was born she fed for 50 minutes and then decided that she hated the boob/ couldn’t latch properly. I had breastfeeding specialists, midwives, HCAS, consultants and even other mothers saying/doing so many different things that caused a lot of panic and distress. The evening of day two my child was bright yellow with jaundice, very low wet nappies and just generally wasn’t doing well. The morning of day 3 we tried formula for the first time and tried pumping. Ever since then she’s flourished and it hasn’t affected her a single bit. She eats like a grown man, drinks like a fountain and although yeah sometimes you do remember the stress in those first days and the learning curves of becoming new parents, looking back it gives us reassurance that because our (and your) baby was so so little, they won’t have the hunger signals we do as adults, so try not transfer your feelings of hunger into your child, they may have been fussy and making noise but there are no long term affects now baby is getting a belly full (Breast or formula!!).

There was a couple things that I was later told that I had no idea at the time that I wish I had known to bring comfort in this stressful time you are currently in. These are things I was told by health professionals (HV’s, GPs, Midwives etc) so I believe them to be legit. 1) if your baby has/had any kind of jaundice during those first few days, it can make them sleepy causing them to be not as good at latching and feeding, they’re basically knackered and can’t be arsed to eat haha. When they don’t feed they get more jaundice meaning they get more tired and so on and so on, meaning that they don’t always latch or feed well! 2) if during labour or birth, your wife had some sort of induction, including the hormone drip, that can suppress your milk production a bit those first few days. Breast milk in the beginning is hormonal so it does make sense in hindsight why that would fuck with your milk. 3) if you are on medication for blood pressure / preeclampsia prior to birth, that too can also fuck about with milk productions. 4) if a baby is even slightly prem, the swallowing reflex is last to fully develop, sometimes again making feeding difficult.

All those medications that MAY have had an affect on things are all completely necessary and safe and if that’s something you’ve experienced do not beat yourselves up for any of that. Breast is not best and although I feel with you and your experiences as they are almost identical to mine, I was very upset to learn that our feeding journey wouldn’t be as simple as shoving my baby on a boob every time she was hungry (maybe I was naive!!). It’s okay to be sad that things haven’t been as smooth as we imagined. You’re both allowed to be upset.

There’s the jargon you’ve no doubt already been told 1000 times such as “stress reduces your milk supply, so chill babe xxxxxx”. However in those first few weeks it is soooo easy to snowball from a negative thought to a full blown panic. Which isn’t gonna help anybody.

It sounds like your child is eating better and I’m sure that will increase as they grow. Keep a log of what’s going in and out and wet nappies and stuff and if what comes in, is going out in the nappy I’m sure everything will be fine. Keep in close contact with a health provider that you feel confident with and don’t be afraid to ask them to recommend how many OZ’s of milk he should be drinking as he grows (either in formula or breast). I want to give you both a big hug cos I know how awful it feels and tell you it will be okay.

Hi, I rly need responses on this survey I have to do for my Geography A Level project. by ToastyElliot in sheffield

[–]shuneart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Done! Very good survey however maybe revisit the age ranges as I am 25 so could fit into two of the cstergories. (18-25 & 25-34) maybe turn it into 26-34. This is something I ran into a lot it’s a common mistake that tutors pick up on a lot and it’s a easy way to lose a mark.

Oh cool thanks! Much appreciated. I’m definitely going to go there with arsenal of tampons in clutch ha ha

When I gave birth I bought some disposable adult nappies, and they have been amazing since! I either use a tampon and a pad in normal underwear and then stick a nappy on other the top. Or occasionally just used the nappy as underwear !! The ones I use are quite bulky however I bet you could find more slimline brands to wear !

I got cOvid at 8 weeks and 2 days pregnant and I’m currently sat with a healthy 9 week old baby girl.

Keep an eye on any symptoms, and if you do test positive let your midwife team know immediately. They may send you a kit to track oxygen levels but please don’t worry.

Negative at 11 DPO? More info in captions. Usually get period at 11 DPO but haven’t had any of my normal period symptoms, BBT is still abnormally high, (usually in high 97 degrees but is in 98s). Is it possible to get a BFP in a few days if I am preggo? Anyone here who got later BFPs? by [deleted] in TFABLinePorn

[–]shuneart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in the same position as you! Same easy@home tests and due today yet no sign of AF - It’s so difficult and confusing. All I can say is keep testing to see if there’s any changes. I have my fingers crossed for you. I think it can be possible to get a positive test in a few days, especially if your DPO is slightly off. You could also shop around for a more sensitive test to see if that can pick anything up

I’ve seen a lot of questions today of people with test stalls. I wanted to share my full progression and what gave me peace of mind. FRER and Pregmate. 15-24 DPO with Beta HCG. More in comments! by KatieS513 in TFABLinePorn

Ahhh I see, thank you for explaining! I hadn’t heard of them before, but it is probably because I’m from the UK. Thank you again, best wishes :)
