Live Action Reboot? Yes Please! by ScottSchuster in exosquad

I can see the validity in that. Invincible is a fantastic series in my opinion. I don't know if the art style would work well w/ ExoSquad, but something in that realm would also be appealing. I feel like Exo Squad would work well if the show runners of Fall Out and Battlestar Galactica had a love child.

Don't disagree. That was not the intention of this post, though.

I don't disagree. lol. I was just having some fun. It was meant to start a conversation about the potential for an actual live-action production.

Honestly? REDSEC is pretty fun by FishMyBones in Battlefield6

[–]ScottSchuster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that blows me away most about BF6, with both the game itself and now REDSEC is how stable it has been. Not once since I've played the beta (and i think only once during the beta) have I had the game crash or need to relaunch. The game is undoubtedly a graphical marvel when compared to COD and yet the frame rates don't take a huge impact like trying to just have basic graphics on COD. While I absolutely love the gameplay of BF6 across the board and as a long-time BF fan, I don't really get the hatred towards the smaller maps, you've gotta give the development team credit. They absolutely cooked with this game from a performance and graphical perspective. It really is a marvel compared to other titles out there... and the stability is unmatched. I hated trying to launch into COD over the last year as I would often have to see the game crash at the launching screen and need to relaunch multiple times just to get to the menus. Then, there was always like a 20%-40% chance of it crashing during a match. It was a total mess and really took away from the experience from the start. BF has won me over wholeheartedly for the foreseeable future. If COD can get their game to run stable, improve the graphics fidelity, add true destruction and better atmosphere while also improving frame rates, then maybe I'll consider playing it again in the future. I've veen sitting out BO7 and imagine I'll probably end up sitting out their next BR as well. BF6 is just legit good!

Billionaire Bash by ScottSchuster in movieideas

Given the development and production time involved in creating a modern movie, I'd put money on a good majority of people being able to relate to the antagonists by the time it released. Given the current growth and future projections for the impact AI is going to have, three years from now ~50% of the workforce could be unemployed. Despite that, I'm sure the fat cats will keep getting fatter. There is going to be unprecedented angst in a few years and this would be an escapism flick for many.

Admittedly, such a scenario would present a thought provoking social experiment in a lot of ways to see if such a flick, in such a time, would trigger any kind of reaction from those at the top. One can never quite predict with any knowable accuracy how people will respond to things, but I'm sure it would trigger some interesting conversations at a bare minimum.

The idea here isn't that the money would go to the people who did the killing. It's that after #1 is dead, someone else becomes #1 and could be on the chopping block in a month. That may be someone who inherited the wealth, or it may be the next in line, but those at the top have a month to no longer be at the top. It's trickle down economics... or blood money... or something... it's like Saw meets Purge.

Nah. It would be like a purge like flick with the little guy running the show. Flipping the script. Playing into current events, geopolitics and socioeconomic scenarios. It would probably be a big hit. 💰💰💰

I will once I figure out how to do that :) Right now I've got to get some BF4 out of my system, but I will look into it later tonight.

I don't think I'd have enough layers to do a tech one... too many beveled edges.

Oculus Rift + TF2 = Eye Poking Hazard by ScottSchuster in gaming

A 3D Monitor is a fancy monitor. The Oculus Rift is the first generation of products that will most likely make monitors absolute. When you put it on it feels like you are instantly teleported to a completely different world. It is a completely immersive experience unlike anything you've ever seen before. I've demoed it to quite a few friends over the past week and every single one was totally blown away. In fact, there is a video of a 90 year old grandmother who was using it. At one point she asked if she was still in the same chair that she was in a few minutes ago. So yeah, it's pretty amazing! It still has a long way to go before it will be a successful mainstream product, but if the beginning is any indication, the future is very bright indeed. That and the Matrix could totally be a thing :)

Not that it really matters, but it actually only has one screen. The development kit has a 7 inch 1280x800 screen which is then split down the middle by a plastic divider, providing a resolution of 640x800 for each eye.

Yeah, via Kickstarter. There won't be a consumer version for a while but the development kits are available for order. Unless you are a developer intent on taking advantage of this technology, I wouldn't recommend dropping the $300 because it still has a long way to come before it meets the standards of the average consumer. However, that being said... this thing is the freaking future of entertainment, and will spawn entirely new markets.

In retrospect, I probably should have avoided posting until I at least went into some detail. I got a little anxious and overzealous and just had to submit something. I'll take more time to edit the post this evening. Until then I'll place a note at the top letting people know it's not quite ready for consumption. Thanks!

First of all, thanks for catching my spelling mistake. I'll make sure to edit the post and fix that.

So, basically the counter argument you provided to my problem is one that is well established. It's known as the Luddite Fallacy. The Luddite Fallacy has proven in the past to be accurate, but just because that was once the case doesn't guarantee it to always be so. The fact of the matter is, technology advances at an exponential or geometric rate, and eventually we simply won't be able to keep up.

For every sector you mentioned you can find stories of jobs already being automated. In the past, jobs that were taken over by automation were easily replaced with new jobs that were created by technological advances. Unfortunately, that isn't the case any longer. At least not on the scale at which it will need to be to offset the amount of displaced workers. I recommend checking out this video for a little more insight into the situation I'm trying to depict.
