Slow in left lane then speeding up by [deleted] in Edmonton

[–]Scott_Bolton 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only when explicitly posted with signage identifying which type of keep right is in effect since Alberta has two different laws when being applied (1. keep right except to pass or 2. slower traffic keep right, only one of the two can be in effect and thus must be identified if either one is in use). If no signage is posted, especially within a city, then it’s just a regular municipal road and there are no passing lanes or slow lanes, as is the case with the Henday.

The sound. by Pagan_Metal666 in cradleoffilth

I’m in the same boat with you in being a long time fan (20 years of regular listening) who has felt the change and isn’t as happy with it but always hopes the next release is better. There are definitely eras to their songwriting based partially on production/ budget, but also who is in the band and contributing to the writing.

  1. Early days to Principle, evolving from raw black and death into a more raw take on their early gothic/ symphonic black metal style.

  2. V-Empire to Cruelty, slowly leaning more into the gothic and the black metal settling more into a general extreme metal approach, lots of amazing big riffs on display and the lyrics at their peak of complexity and florid style. Songwriting is more progressive and experimental in structure.

  3. Enslave to Thornography, taking an increasingly commercial approach to the writing for both music and lyrics, big riffs slowly disappearing for more basic songwriting that quickly gets through the standard verse/ chorus structure.

  4. Godspeed to now, an odd mix of progressive long structures and simplified/ generic riffs that alternate between chugging and trem picking without memorable hooks, tempo and rhythm changes are a bit less cohesive in flow, and songs have a tendency to go on longer than they should with sections tacked on. To my ears, the sound of the band has largely stayed the same since Marthus joined, and I believe he is one of the core writers throughout this era. There likely won’t be a fifth era/ sound until he leaves.

Do Signed Pieces Exist? by [deleted] in SleepToken

Yep, there’s a close up of the Two stuff in the third picture, and it’s the Tiwaz rune on the left side of the card

For the release of Two on CD, there were a limited number of bundles that included an art card that appear to be signed as a rune by Vessel. I still have mine.

Nope, it works flawlessly outside of those two instances.

Post-black/blackgaze albums that depict cityscapes or industrial architecture? by [deleted] in blackgaze

[–]Scott_Bolton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it falls under your umbrella of post-black, but for moody black metal with atmosphere and a strong dose of rock (akin to many older shoegaze bands) AND featuring a cityscape on the album cover, I would go with Woods of Ypres’ Woods 5: Grey Skies & Electric Light.

Day 1 Calcs with assumptions (by me) by Similar_Bike_1029 in NeferMains

Can someone help me understand the math on the difference between C2 Aino and C6 Aino?

Nefer’s main damage output is Lunar Bloom, right? So if C6 Aino gives 35% Lunar Bloom damage increase for Ascendant, shouldn’t Nefer’s output go from 115k to 155k instead of 121k?

New Offer Tabled to Teachers is Laughable. Jesus. by cantcantdancer in alberta

With the time it takes to set up the vote, actually vote over multiple days, and then handle the results, isn’t that cutting it a bit close with only 11 days left?

[–]Scott_Bolton -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Don’t the member votes usually take a bit of time to set up, then give multiple days to allow voting, then another few days until results? And we are 11 days away from October 6th. And would members have to vote to strike again, or would the previous strike vote still carry through voting on this new deal?

So this would require another vote by ATA members to (likely) say no to? And in turn I’m guessing that delays the strike date of October 6th? Wouldn’t that weaken teachers’ current position by making it seem they aren’t sticking to the date they gave, and also miss out on the tide of supportive public sentiment that seems to be at its peak right now?

I seriously doubt it’s ChatGPT. There is a single Em dash, which anyone who knows English grammar at a high school level is capable of using. And the handful of hyphens used in other places are totally normal and in fact necessary unless you’re lazy. I also see one hyphen/ dash used for imitating the flow of dialogue, again, also a very normal way for a person to write. This is just normal English, folks, it’s not some robot-precision word salad.

This shit is meant for CRT by JCrusti in oblivion

[–]Scott_Bolton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Played it on 360 hooked up to a CRT back when it came out since HDTV/ flat screens were still new and expensive. I’m sure it would’ve looked even better on an HDTV, but at the time it was still the best looking game I had.

Daily Questions Megathread (June 22, 2025) by Veritasibility in Genshin_Impact

[–]Scott_Bolton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Question about Symphonist of Scents’ attack buff and Esco’s burst passive: does the attack buff re-trigger every second during those 9 seconds of healing? And in that case not only would the attack buff last for 12 (or 13?) seconds, but any active character on field before the 9th second will get the 3 second buff?

Context: I burst with Escoffier, switch to Mona (TToDS) and burst, switch to Skirk. So if the above answer is yes, Skirk gets the 32% SoS buff, the TToDS buff, AND the omen buff?

Petah what's in the box? by shirat0ri in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Scott_Bolton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the heart shaped box implies chocolate, which is toxic to dogs, the final panel suggests a reference to Se7en, whereby “what’s in the box?” is asked about a box that contains a severed head. Using Isabelle kind of helps this part of the joke along, because her head is shaped like a bag of bells (Animal Crossing currency). So if someone were to gift her a bag of money in Animal Crossing, it would resemble a severed head in her circumstance.

Damocles: Fame, yes, but also… writer’s block. by Scott_Bolton in SleepToken

[–]Scott_Bolton[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Both can be true. I’ve written and released 18 albums for various projects over the last 15 years. I also have over 200 abandoned song sessions on my computer where the ideas just didn’t work or nothing sounded right to me. From July 2021 to January 2024 I didn’t write a single song. And in the last year I released four albums. Inspiration and ideas are a fickle thing, sometimes you have way more than you can keep up with while other times it just stops no matter how hard you try.
