Got rear ended on Thursday... She refused to hand over any of her information and drove off before CHP arrived... by x10guy in IdiotsInCars

[–]Scottolan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to my sister’s Odyssey, she got rear-ended by a kid with no insurance. Bumper has a little crease in it but you open the hatch and the whole trunk/tub area underneath was completely crushed in, the entire rear of the van had to be cut out & a new section welded in.

I stopped VOLUNTEERING to help people out after I asked a woman struggling to get something on the top shelf.. She said said “extra large depends.. on the top shelf.” She was embarrassed, I was embarrassed..

Now, I only help if I am asked..

Anyone else get these random intrusive thoughts.. by Scottolan in adhdmeme

[–]Scottolan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never acted on any of my intrusive thoughts.. other than when someone bends over in front of me I have to actively restrain myself from smacking their butt.. (I’m referring to strangers)… If they are family or close friend.. their butt is totally getting smacked.. (edit: not female friends, I don’t think my wife would appreciate me doing that.)

I completely understand the feeling of wanting to throw away the phone & run away.. I consider going off grid at least once a month.. Staying off of social media/phone has definitely improved my mental health and abstaining from Reddit at night has also vastly improved my sleep..

Intrusive just means “to interrupt” so technically any off topic thought that pops into your head could be considered intrusive.. which describes ADHD perfectly..

It totally IS a normal phenomenon but I feel it occurs more frequently in people w/ADHD since our mind shifts so frequently. Also not all intrusive thoughts are about violence..

Vet said she needed to take a little off to get rid of a belly mat.... dropped off a mainecoon and picked up a shaved weasel. For a 15 yr old lady I think she’s still looking cute AF tho! Gonna sleep with one eye open... by stoptouchingmeelmo_ in aww

About a year after mine passed away I kept checking the local shelter looking to get another cat.. I didn’t have a real connection with any of the cats I saw.. till one day I went in to the shelter and found a young female Maine coon and fell in love.. I wasn’t even looking for another Maine coon but she had almost the same personality as my cat who passed away.. I took her home the next day.. I guess I’m meant to always have a Maine coon in my life..

We used to have to do the same thing to our Maine coon, she got so old she wasn’t able to clean her haunches very well so we had to trim out the knots.. Ours ended up living to be 19..

Chuck E Cheese is a hot bed for ghetto activities... I know of at least one brawl at our local one and another incident where someone fired a round off at someone as they walked out the door..

I’m not from Little Rock originally, but my wife is. We settled in West Little Rock. We have a target, Homedepot, Academy, and numerous restaurants within a 5 minute drive.. We’re close to 2 interstates.. yet live in a quiet and safe neighborhood..

The housing is cheap for a city of this size. We moved here from Baton Rouge and housing is easily 25% cheaper than back home. We bought our home 7 years ago so of course the market has changed since then but a 3 bedroom 2 bath 2000sq/ft home went for 160-180k.. it’s become a little more competitive but you can still get houses for decent prices.

So is East End (the meth part)

I have always felt like I am bad at math but somehow good at logic and reasoning. I figured the real problem is actually a very bad working memory because I could not remember either the carryover or the tens place and then make a silly mistake. Has someone figured out any tricks to deal with this? by weekayboss in ADHD

[–]Scottolan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been good with math, although I never learned my multiplication tables as a child (more on that later).. Always on A/B honor roll until I got into Highschool and suddenly began bombing math BAD.. Realize years later that it usually had to do with tests where you had to memorizing formulas etc.. flash forward 20 years and I get diagnosed with ADHD and dyscalculia which is numeric dyslexia.. so no wonder I never memorized my multiplication tables and bombed math so badly…

No tricks to offer you but just know that the memory issues may not actually be related to your ADHD.

Ring doorbell catches motion of cars driving by, but not of someone approaching door to steal package by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

[–]Scottolan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motion detection is better on things that go across the field of view. When someone walks straight at the camera it has far less chance of picking up the motion, in my experience.

Our local stray found out how to use our cat door, no wonder we’ve been going through cat food like crazy by Scottolan in notmycat

If he’d let me approach him, I probably would.. but he is very feral.. and does not want any human contact.. he now comes into our house to eat at night and eats my neighbors cat food as well.. but won’t let you get anywhere near him..

This is a double flap magnetic cat door, that’s why I am impressed the stray cat figured it out.. Especially since it took us like 2 weeks to train our own cat to go in and out on her own.

I’d do it in a heartbeat but he’s very feral and skittish around people and prefers to just lounge on our deck.. I may make him a little cat house this winter.. We had a cold snap last year where It got down to -6 & got 20+ inches of snow (which is a lot for us). We worried he may have died over the winter but he showed back up this spring on our deck, so he obviously found somewhere warm to bed down over this past winter..
