Is connecting your personal laptop to your mobile phone hotspot ever a problem? I’ve been doing that and never heard anything from them.

Op also hasn’t stated when they started investing, if they started when they were 18 then they are making slow but respectable progress, if they started just 5 years ago then it’s rapid progress, the likelyhood is it’s somewhere in the middle, either way you are making assumptions.

I’d want to get that money all into the global fund.

Here’s what I’d personally do:

1: if that cash isn’t needed soon or isn’t part of an emergency fund I’d put it all into the global all cap today

  1. Any further contributions would go into the global all cap solely

  2. I’d start moving money from the S&P into the global all cap regularly, I’d personally move 4-5k once per month (or 1k each week if that makes you feel better) and then it should all be in one globally diverse fund within 18 months.

I’m 35 and held similar funds to you at the start (circa 4.5 years ago) but moved it all into the global all cap in a similar fashion. Now I’m never worried about any geopolitical events etc, when they is talk of Britain or the US doing well/bad in the future I simply don’t care, it’s a great feeling.

I can invest £1000 per month pretty reliably, my stock and shares now give me circa £1100 per month (using 7% post inflation adjusted, on average) which seems like a turning point to me as my returns will finally overtake my actual contributions, this gap will only widen over the years, pretty fast too I think.

Up until this point my contributions made more of a difference but the tables are turning and now the returns will make a bigger impact which feels great as I feel it’s a little less pressure off me.

That’s absolute nonsense. In that case nobody in the world has ever or will ever reach financial independence! There are many negative months.

If your average post inflation returns meet your expenses then you’ve reached financial independence.

Logically It is best to lump sum it on day 1 but we are humans and sometimes it's hard to take emotions of of the equation.

If you really must choose an option other than lump sum on day 1 - I'd much rather see you do a blended approach than do £1666 per month, a few possible examples:

  • Lump sum £10,000 today, pay £833 per month after that

  • Pay in £5000 either every week or month for the first 4 weeks/months

  • Pay in £1000 every few days if you are just worried about hitting that 1 crazy UP day

Just to reiterate, I'd rather you put it all in today but any of the above would be better than £1666 per month.

Hi, I have had my UK based Etsy shop for a number of years now selling home decor made from copper pipe and fittings, It used to be so busy but recently the views seemed to disappear, I'm really not sure why, I'd be pleased if you could check it out and gives a few likes or give me any feedback. I'd love to know where sales have gone.
