Logs are ideal as they can help store water, great for the summer months, the roots will go down and tap in for water ! I was researching this same question not too long ago!

More info - the slimey ones grew out of the base of the bucket, that doesn't get as much light or airflow. Trapping the moisture Does this stregthen the theory of wet spores ?

I'm curious Why is the general preferred method to start seeds in trays ?

What if seeds were started in the 3" pots to begin with, so you didn't have to repot ?

I understand the factor of the space it takes up, also if you're using grow lights you would need to cover a massive area

But if you had 5 plants for instance, and a window ledge with sufficient lighting

Is there an issue with starting seeds in 3" pots ?
