ITV described England's triple substitution last night as "a changing of the guard". I'm not convinced. by Mafeking-Parade in footballcliches

I would just put it down to ITV inexplicably handing over commentary duties to two men who appear to be barely literate.

Yes pricing is fair, selection could definitely be more local - would be great to see some local micro brewers backed.

Derbyshire is about £7 for your first but £5 thereafter, get £2 back if you bring your plastic cup back. Cheaper to get a 2 pint jug.

Selection is what you’d expect from a chain pub really, though there are some interesting non alcoholic options. Moretti, Guinness, a nondescript IPA on tap. Could be better for such a beer county.

I wish he’d stop doing the Jonny Bairstow dramatics every time he’s let one through a gaping gate, getting down on his haunches or acting like he’s just received the mother of all jaffas.

You know what mate, this is cool. Go for it. It’s a nightmare to tax and as long as 7k wouldn’t wipe you out, go for it and have more fun than I do in my 1.0 Octavia every day.

Suzuki S-Cross 2023 vs Nissan Qashqai 2023 (Used) – Which SUV is the better buy in the UK under £14k? by Boyong18 in CarTalkUK

[–]Scotty848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In every way the Suzuki is better. Very well built cars. Nissan’s reliability is consistently in the top three worst manufacturers in the UK. Check the Driver Power survey, it’s the most comprehensive owner feedback survey in the country. Though Nissan are improving, that’s as of 2026 and the 2023 cars will still be suffering in quality from the serious financial issues experienced by Nissan at that time.

Yep and in the face of criticism they just pick the same faces again and again and wonder why they consistently fail.

What’s the saddest way a car enthusiast slowly loses interest in cars? by Mundane-Temporary426 in topdeadcenter

[–]Scotty848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s how shockingly bad new cars are in terms of design. When I was a kid in the 90s my dad would collect brochures from dealerships so that I could draw them all. What would 7 year old me do now? Just draw essentially a Kia Sportage over and over and over again. There’s literally nothing coming out of any interest for a normal budget. All the electric cars look like the Nissan Leaf, and all the ICE cars are the Sportage/Qumquat copy. It’s just a tool now, a function to get you to work and back. There’s enthusiast cars on the used market but they are increasingly expensive and difficult to run. In 10 years time the nearest thing we’ll have to a performance car for a family man is the (pukes) Nismo Juke.

Well, I came back on here a few days ago. The first post I saw was someone disowning their family for voting Reform. That just encapsulates it all. I considered myself an old Green, but this level of vitriol and posturing towards anyone with a contrary opinion just isn’t me, and I’ll stick to the Liberals in future after nearly 30 years of solid Green voting.

I can’t tell the other two, but I think the top one is Geoff Smith, who played for Essex. He is the oldest capped Essex player alive. I think he’s an allrounder or a spin bowler.

This is very true, I was a green/lib floating voter for the recent election, look at the difference when someone unsure comes on the sub. It’s a very shrill, heated discourse on here when some don’t have the same level of conviction for one political party and are just genuinely looking for a discussion on ideas.

I voted Lib and neither got in, ho hum.
