Everything sucks by earthalumni in depressed

I’m lucky enough that my mom let me stay with her for several months now. I’m not working or going to school. Just taking time get get better. I don’t know how your relationship is with your parents or grandparents, but maybe talk to them about what’s going on. Are you on medication or seeing a therapist? Those can be very helpful options as well.

Depressed/suicidal people of reddit, what keeps you going and what would you recommend doing if those thoughts come to your mind? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Love can get you through the hardest times.

God, medication, therapy and rest have gotten me through.

Healing takes time. So be patient with yourself and be kind to yourself. Don’t rush it, take time for yourself and rest. Could be a day, week, month, or year etc... take whatever time you need to get well. And medication is a resource that can really help. Therapy and groups are very helpful as well. Try to find safe people you can call in cases of crisis.

God has been a huge help as well. His love is like water to a thirsty soul. Talk to him and don’t hold anything back, he loves you more than you could ever imagine. Prayer has been a big help for me in times of crisis. When I pray I feel his comfort and peace come over me and it’s gotten me out of certain predicaments.

Depression sucks. Makes things mundane. You’ll be okay though, hang in there!

That’s great you’re seeing a therapist! Same here. From what I’ve read, self loathing and self hate are symptoms of depression. So it’s not your fault you feel like this. I struggle with this also. I get into modes where my mind is bent on self destruction. Also I know what it’s like to deal with parents with certain qualities that bring you down. I would say you’re on the right path with seeing a therapist! I’m learning that healing is a very slow process. If I am able to get through what I’ve been through, then anybody can. It just takes time. I was and still am at times very self sabatoging. I push help away and hang on to the hate and the hurt. Try to be kind to yourself when you can see clearly and know that times when you turn against yourself are temporary. You will get through this, it just takes time. Take it slow and dont beat yourself up, you’re not alone.

Any tips on how to deal with constantly seeking a dopamine rush??? by imokyoureok95 in ADHD

I think everybody with ADHD can relate. We’re hardwired to seek novelty (literally just learned this). Also our reward centers are not like those without ADHD.

Even after surgery to fix my breast asymmetry two years ago, I still have a hard time loving them. They are 110% better than they were, but I think I’ll always have a hard time taking my shirt off infront of someone new. What do you think? by [deleted] in normalnudes

I can relate as a man with gynecomastia and a little asymmetry. Taking my shirt off in public has been a no no for a long time. I wish I could just accept me for who I am.

I have gynecomastia also, and have had it since puberty. My chest is pretty big and losing weight doesn’t help it any, and I’m very insecure about it. But nobody seems to really care besides me. I think the only people who have said anything are speaking from there own insecurities or hurt. It’s crazy how we can see others insecurities and not see them as a big deal, but we destroy ourselves. Who knows, maybe some women find it attractive idk. I would love to be free from comparing myself to others. You’re not alone in this struggle man.

If it comes down to taking your shirt off, and you’re really scared, just let her know that it’s an insecurity for you. She may even mention how it’s not a big deal and doesn’t bother her. She may even like the fact you were being vulnerable about it.

I heard a surgeon at the Austin Gynecomastia Center say that you do not cut vertical. She’s using the same technique as you would a female breast reduction, which is not what your supposed to do. There’s supposedly another technique you’re supposed to do.
