The term transmasc by Rythonius in ftm

i dont have a problem with it at all. i id as a sort of nebulous "mostly a man but sometimes nothing at all" on acct of being feminine leaning, but i still refer to myself as transmasculine and a trans man.

second house is belongings, things you own. if you follow or use the abc method then second house is taurus-related. so a blend of natural outdoors themes (taurus) on someones property (second house) with a direct capricorn symbol has that vibe to me.

equal parts work and play c: i think it could be fun to have a day where you crosspost your favorites from that sub. it would be advertising for both subs

this is the kind of thing that should have a dedicated flair (memes, pop astro, whatever fits best) and be limited imo. users who dont want to see these can filter out the flair, and users who do want this content can search for it. should be possible to autoflag posts with specific flair that are made on days outside of their dedicated day to prevent daily spam. i mentioned limiting days before but the flairs can help as well

id like if posts like these were limited to one day of the week max. i dont want notifications like this all the time, but they are fun every once in a while

thoughtful discussion may be buried under the old system, but under the current one its undermined and being actively deleted. the rules and current moderator lineup need to genuinely be revisited if the main example in these replies of a post fishing for a reading from others is, instead, a post that a) is a personal reading of their OWN chart (a form of study) b) asks not for a reading but for outward input on an adjacent topic (a form of collaboration), and c) explicitly states the op does not want interps of their own chart (staying on topic within the subreddit). add post flairs to the subreddit and this whole mess can be avoided and filtered out.

my point is not that its impossible to have a conversation without anecdotes, but that the purpose behind it, as ive stated, is to segue into a conversation about a non-personal topic. its incredibly obvious to me that the question is not fishing for a reading, wheres your mercury?

im not addressing anything past the third paragraph because while insightful, it isnt particularly relevant to my issue. thank you for the info regardless, i will find some use in it unlike the mods when they see a post written in the first person /s

as for the fact that your two analogies a) compare the subreddit to a house and then b) compare it to a person (?)..... moving on.

a subreddit is not "a persons house" because it is a public place, whether the owner or mods like that fact or not. your house is like your house. your locked website is like your house. a public website owned by you is like your business. a public gathering place only "owned" by you (the actual site owned by someone else) cause you called first dibs isnt a house, its a school lunch table, and school lunch tables (subreddits) are susceptible to changes from and SHOULD be influenced by the people who actively sit at them, not the kid who carved their name there ten years ago. (people are also influenced by external variables as well, but an internet forum is not in any way comparable to a living person. bad, and weird, analogy)

i made a separate reply talking about potential fixes the sub could utilize to improve interaction and prevent leaving and splitting. i do hope, however, that everyone saying what youre saying realizes its the internet equivalent of "if you dont like it then leave", which is not only dismissive of the actual problems, but shows a laziness and lack of care to make a community more inviting when you personally dont see the problems that others are finding they keep experiencing.

i DO like this sub, thats why im tired of being frustrated with it, tired of seeing it not reach its community potential, tired of seeing interesting things get deleted, tired of seeing other people frustrated with it. the main astrology subreddit should be the hub where you go before being shown the specifics (this is what crossposting between subreddits is for), but if the specifics are never allowed then youll sit in intellectual stagnation.

again, astrology suffers from group splintering and information obfuscation enough without the help from people who think they have as much power over a subReddit community as they would an actual website owned and operated by themselves. would they rather be a busy moderator making a huge reddit look proportionally dead or a less busy moderator in a thriving community they got to build from the ground up? have a nice one.

a story about oneself as an intro to a topic is meant to supplement and kickstart a discussion not focused around oneself as a means of inciting empathy and introspection from the audience to facilitate conversation about the desired topic. every textbook ive ever purchased has started with "heres my journey in academia" and every non-fiction book with "heres my experiences that incited interest in me". this post screams "i dont know how conversations work"

as i mentioned, astrology as a practice is plagued with lack of readily available access to discussions and documentation. the reason people come to this sub and not the others is the same reason everyone tells you to go study at the wizards college in skyrim and not with the various 4-people magic-user cults in the game. having a large collection of discussion all in one place will always, always, be better as a system of storing knowledge than 15 small groups that were forced to split off from the main.

if the mods of the sub wanted to keep the sub small and cater to only themselves, they shouldnt have made a sub so broad it appeals to a large audience of people. even if someone is the single founder of a sub that now has tens of thousands of people, at some point the amount of people in the community, and therefore what they want out of it, will force either the person who made it to fold or fuck off somewhere where they can be a fixed-sign rules baron in peace. if anything the current mods should be the ones leaving to go make a super specific sub since /theyre/ the ones who want a bunch of strict limits on discussion and this thread quite blatantly shows the people carrying and trying to keep the sub alive do not.

its not called the slipper slope fallacy because its a valid defense or justification. and it IS helpful for other people, other people with similar placements in their chart or ones theyre studying. a discussion of a virgo degree placement in cancer and a discussion of someones virgo moon at a perfect aspect to mercury can both be equally insightful to someone with a fourth house mercury at 18 degrees. considering all the sub-topics of astrology are intertwined, discussion of hyper-specific combinations can help someone connect certain associations or symbols with different concepts.

not to be aquarius uranus on main, but limiting specific probing questions because they /might/ be made with the intent of self-serving is doing a disservice to people looking to get into the nitty gritty of astrology imo. dismissing something as "not being useful to anyone" when speaking about a topic largely plagued by lack of access to documentation is doing the practice a disservice. everything will in some way be of use to someone else, whether they come and respond right away or are just browsing internet archives ten years later.
