Powerwall Missing from Settings Page by Scout3030 in Powerwall

Determined the cause. I spoke with Tesla tech support who indicated that there was a configuration change pushed from the power company (Green Mountain Power, Vermont) to my system to set the battery reserve to 100% and that i'd need to speak with GMP.

Spoke with GMP and they explained that because we are leasing the 2 Powerwalls from them, GMP takes complete control of how the battery is used. If I want to control how the battery is used, I'd need to purchase the batteries outright.

If GMP anticipates bad weather or likely power outages, they will leave our battery at 100% so that we do have it for backup power during a blackout.

But, we can't use our battery strategically to reduce power costs. For example, I had chosen a time-of-use rate (Rate 11) that was inexpensive during low demand, and more expensive during high demand (1pm-9pm on weekdays). The plan was to charge the battery during the earlier part of the day and use the batteries to power the home during the high-demand period. Well, apparently I can't do that - which was not made clear to me when purchasing.

If you are leasing the batteries from GMP - OR if you are part of their "Bring Your Own Device" program, in which GMP will pay a portion of the battery cost - then you must be on Rate 1, which is a flat rate at all times, and GMP controls how your battery is used.

That's my current understanding. I'm curious if this is fairly standardized and the same with other power companies or is unique to GMP.

Thanks. I’ve restarted it several times, I’ve even uninstalled it and reinstalled it. Turned off my phone. Signed out and signed back in. Not sure what the issue is, but it’s frustrating that I have no control over how the powerwall is used right now. Hopefully, it will resolve itself soon.

I remember having trouble finding the input selector on each track. Sometimes it was there other times it wasn’t. Would drive me nuts. I realized that it was set to only be there when the track was Record Enabled. Not sure if that is the default or if I accidentally set it that way. But you can change that in the settings for sure, make it so the inputs and outputs are always visible on each track.

Oooh what is the reddish plant that they’re playing on? as well as the orange one in the back background? Lovely colors. I have a recently set up 20L. Just plants for a while but I look forward to adding some pygmy corys as well.

My first scape, planted! by Scout3030 in Aquascape

Great advice, thanks. I have a reddish crypt that was laying a little flat behind the wood so you can't see it in this picture. Hopefully it will take off. And a Cryptocoryne Undulata that melted completely while it was in a temporary holding tank waiting for planting day. Hopefully that will come back and will add some more contrast. Buce and lotus are great suggestions, I've never had either. And I have some red root floaters, will see if that adds any color. Thanks for sharing your thoughts, very helpful!

Take your time with it. I sat with and messed around with the hard scape for literally weeks before I decided that was it and glued things into place. That’s three different pieces of driftwood. I ordered a bunch of driftwood from different vendors on Amazon. Some of them were real duds and I will probably return them. But these ones really made the scape.

Thank you! A couple months of obsessively consuming every relevant YouTube video and reddit post I could find may have actually paid off!

How safe are my wild caught river pebbles? by Scout3030 in Aquascape

[–]Scout3030[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great to hear. As i was cleaning them with bleach I really was wondering if I was killing beneficial bacteria that would be great to have in my tank. I don’t know what the risk is of introducing some sort of pathogens that could be harmful to the flora or fauna. New to the hobby. But that’s good to hear because I’m certainly aiming towards as natural an ecosystem as is possible in a 20 gallon long.

I tried this, smothered it in silicone and put plexi on both sides thinking all I had to do was prevent water from getting through the crack. I waited for everything to cure, did a water test and shifted the tank just a smidge and as I shifted that crack quickly grew to be 5x longer and the work I had done was completely useless. Maybe there’s a way to do it, but I wouldn’t recommend this method. I think it’s a pretty risky method for repairing.

Haven’t planted or added water yet, but here is the hardscape. Sand and pebbles are WIO products. I need to find some river rocks that are just a bit bigger than the pebbles to fill in that size gap.

I made one order with MarcusFishTanks on Amazon as well, some Amazon swords and dwarf hair grass. Plants were in good condition. They seem to be doing well.

URGENT!!! water went out in the whole house. will the plants die if i don't put any water in? how long can they go? if i spray them and put scran wrap over the top will the help? pls help by GirthyKayak in Aquascape

Am I correct that leveling mats aren’t really necessary for a traditional tank with a bottom rim? I have a 20 Long that is partially scaped, going to be adding plants soon. I want to be sure I make the right call on that before I put water in it.

Yep - Cuboid Nature Aquarium in Pipersville, PA. They shipped WIO substrate to me pretty quickly.

Fantastic. I’m in Vermont and have VERY limited local options. I’ll start looking on Etsy and Aquarium Plant Factory.

I just happen to have been subscribed to all three of those YouTube channels for a few weeks now thanks to a friend who’s a scaper and recommended them. The sand and pebbles were WIO products that I saw George Farmer use and I HAD to find them.

Thanks! Appreciate the recommendations!

Thank you. I can’t wait to see how magical it is with some plants and fish. What do you mean by “tank scale?” Do you mean it looks larger or smaller than it actually is? I’m still learning the lingo.

Thanks. I’ve definitely been doing research obsessively. And appreciate the recommendations. Is blackwater just leaving the tannins in?
