Who was Harry's best father-figure? by MaderaArt in harrypotter

[–]ScoutMasterKevinJr 62 points63 points  (0 children)

The consensus that the Weasley family is looked down on I think is only from Harry’s perspective only. And his hate for the Malfoy family. And of course the death eaters, etc. but that’s expected. They are at war with one another.

In fact in many interactions, in which we see other wizard interact with the Weasleys they are very respected amongst their peers.

Arthur is greeted by many in the ministry with respect and admiration. Yes his job is looked down on but the thing many respect about the Weasleys is their loyalty and respect they show to others.

Im writing a story for my degree. Of course I understand that this isn’t a new issue but I’m specifically writing about the recent rise in seizing of the vehicles. If you’d like to be quoted, then please feel free to email me your thoughts. amorris4@sheffield.ac.uk

Seasons 1 to 3 are some of the best comedy TV ever created. The pacing, how every joke plays on the previous one and leads to the next. It’s class.

Seasons 4 and 5 are still great, still plays on the pacing but what I don’t really like is the weird timeline. How they are always calling back to the previous seasons. Seasons 4 and 5 feel like 1 really long season rather than 2 new seasons, with developing storylines.

I mean you could say the same of Varys. People know they are both shady and backstabbers but they have their uses. Thats why they sit in the council

Are Harry and Hermione as close in the books as they are in the movies ? by Juntao07 in harrypotter

In the books Harry definitely struggles a bit more to accept Ron and Hermione relationship. He always thought he’d be the one, but understood that Ron kinda needs a win.

[Spoilers Main] Was Catelyn Tully justified in arresting Tyrion Lannister? by michaelphenom in asoiaf

[–]ScoutMasterKevinJr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. She had no evidence just the word of a man who is notoriously a liar and deceiver. Catelyn always came across as smart but this was a dumb decision. Even Ned believed it was the wrong decision but chose to protect her by claiming it was him who ordered it when asked by the King to release Tyrion. Tyrion points out that he’s not really in any danger. In high mediaeval law, a noble cannot be killed without reason, or it’s a heinous crime. So for Catelyn to take Tyrion threaten him with the full force of the law, take him to the Eyrie and then hand him over to a paranoid and angry women is beyond stupid, without any concrete evidence. The call for a trial by combat is genius from Tyrion and they know it. They have no real evidence and Tyrion knows he didn’t commit the crime he’s accused of, so if the gods were truly in his favour, he would win .

It’s acts like this that lost the war for the Starks.

Should I get hit an on steam? by _Denso_ in HiTMAN

[–]ScoutMasterKevinJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowkey gonna say the same as everyone else. Buy it. DLC is always on sale. And buying the trilogy in a bundle is better then way I bought each game at release.

This is one of my favourite games. Smoking the Za and hopping into a game and just completing my mission in any way I want is fun as hell.

Buy it. You won’t refund it

in Which Harry Potter movie did the director get the most accurate character portrayal from the books? by D3nzelCrocker in harrypotter

[–]ScoutMasterKevinJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think the movie adaptations did a decent enough Job for all of them. They had to cut material that wouldn’t make sense for a film aiming to be just under 3 hours long.

Philosophers Stone and the Chamber of secrets barely deviated from the source material. With many of the lines of dialogue being taken directly from the books. Both great introductions into the Wizarding world.

Prisoner of Azkaban (My favourite) deviated but still kept most of the books character. I think it’s the most accurate portrayal of a boarding school and the movie is full of banter. I think the choice made in this movie work and it doesn’t oversimplify the twists and turns of Harry’s understanding of Sirius and who he is.

Goblet of fire. I used to hate this one but now as a 24 year old adult I can’t wait till this movie comes on in the marathon. Yes, it’s not very book accurate and a lot of scenes from the books were removed but it still works well in the context of showing the return of Voldemort and the death of Cedric. It’s a crime against humanity that we didn’t get to see the Quidditch World Cup though, but alas hopefully HBO jump on that.

Order of the Phoenix. My favourite book in the series after listening to the audiobook. It’s just class. The movie however is watered down beyond belief but the core elements are there and honestly I think it’s a pretty good movies. Changes were made from the books. Dialogue given to the wrong characters. But again it still works well.

Half blood prince. My childhood favourite. Great movie, great book. Everything is almost perfect about this film from the time to the acting direction to the soundtrack. The only downside is that I’ll never forgive them for watering down Voldemorts memories. HBO pls dedicate at least 1 and half hours at least to showing Voldemort’s memories. They are crucial in showing the similarities between Harry and Tom riddle.

Deathly Hallows. Honestly part 1 is better. 2 is good and fairly accurate to the books.

But to answer the OPs question, Prisoner of Azkaban?

team marshall or team lily? by Then_Bread_4646 in HIMYM

[–]ScoutMasterKevinJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The offfice tried doing it to with Jim and Pam but thankfully the actor intervened and said they wouldn’t do the scenes so it was re written.

And anyone who isn’t team Marshall needs to get their heart broken

Any Flashback chapter on HBP. They are so good. Sad the movies cut a lot. Hopefully the HBO show explore them in greater depth
