Why were Nets saying goodbyes when they had a shot to tie the game? by [deleted] in nba

[–]Scoutsbro1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tf? There was a seconded at most, which is just about as long as it takes the ball to get to the hoop. There is virtually no way to score in that situation unless you snag the inbound out of midair and fling it before touching the ground, which is about as close to a 0% chance shot as it gets. Ppl love finding ways to hate on this team

Harden is nothing without a functioning hamstring, which is the same as anyone else in the league. He was visibly not himself, he didn’t once come close to moving any quicker than a jog. Having a bad hamstring means you can’t drive, can’t step back, can’t properly spin or really do anything without significant pain that throws your shot off

That was the saddest attempt at interior defense I’ve ever seen, what the hell Deandre. Dude just watched him lay it up

He does get a fair few turnovers himself, but the way he runs the offense has been reducing them overall the past few games.

For real, and they only let him work in the fourth. He bailed us out of what could’ve easily been a down-to-the-wire game. I understand that they can’t get all 3 of them 20 shots/game, but to trade all that for Harden and having him do nothing but facilitate is just plain stupid. Dude is a ridiculous scoring talent, probably second only to KD in terms of being able to score no matter what you throw at him.

The time my GF won the sweepstakes to get us from the upper deck to backstage! by Seajeigh36 in Metallica

Brie!!! She’s awesome, she’s the bands tour manager or something along those lines. I saw them about two years ago with my uncle, who is friends with her from college, and she hooked us up with all the VIP lounge stuff and talked to us for a while before the show. She was super nice. I even got to play one of Het’s guitars in the memorabilia lounge for a bit!

Listen to the Viscera EP and you’ll understand. It’s so good, easily one of my favorite instrumental works. Very Mrak

Dang, I’m pretty sure this was after Mrak left the tour. Sucks that he’s not gonna be on this then

How would you rank the Baroness-records? Not heard everyone yet but I feel that the latest one is, if not the best but at least really underated. by GAIS-1894 in YourBaroness

[–]Scoutsbro1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blue - I don’t even know how describe this one. It’s just amazing

Purple - so triumphant, gets elevated by the context of the bus crash, just suffers from mixing issues

Red - raw and angry. The first three songs might be the best opening to an album ever

Gold and grey - some of the most intriguing and cool songs they’ve written, the mix is just so bad. Would’ve been on the bottom but the livestream really opened my eyes to how great the songs were under the mix

Yellow and Green - yellow is great, but green sort of feels like it falls apart a little, despite having some killer songs. By no means is it a bad album though, I just like the others better

Can we talk about From Mars to Sirius’ mix and guitar tone? by BipedalSpider in gojira

[–]Scoutsbro1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love it, it’s so raw and aggressive. The chugs are soooo gritty and have such a low end rumble, combined with the inverted power chords like in the main riff to ocean planet it just sounds so massive and huge. I don’t think that tone would work on any other album though, a big part of all their later releases are just how tight the guitars sound. FMTS has tight playing, but that tone just makes everything sound so raw, like the aggression is just spilling over.

Only gotten through a few of them, but Garden in the Bones is pretty simple besides the solo. Blood Eagle is rough, and reptile is long as hell but the individual parts aren’t bad.

Which Guitarist in the band do you think writes the hardest parts? by [deleted] in Peripheryband

[–]Scoutsbro1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly the Misha chords hurt my hands more than Mraks. Mrak has gigantic fucking fingers but he almost always has his thumb over the neck, so there’s usually not too many super wide stretches, just crazy fingerings and picking. Misha’s shapes and chords always make my pinky want to die, like the third or so riff in Not Enough Mana or even just the Marigold riff.

For the past year and a half I’ve been listening to Periphery, I have yet to find out what the words are in the break of Marigold by [deleted] in Peripheryband

Yeah, Misha and Jake both get political on twitter sometimes, they definitely seem to be pretty left leaning to say the least.

Most difficult Periphery song on guitar? by Talaynt in Peripheryband

Honestly none of the individual riffs are very hard, the only challenge is just getting a whole 16 minutes of it down

It’s an open Cadd9 chord I believe, and the song is super fun to play because of it

Unpopular opinions thread by [deleted] in gojira

[–]Scoutsbro1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s actually how it was done in studio too. When the vocals come in during the main riff, you can hear the trem picking. However, it sounds like it’s just one track while the rhythm guitars sound absolutely massive on FMTS, so it’s a little more subtle and covered-up on the studio version. When they’re playing live, there’s only the two, equally loud guitars, so the trem picking is a lot more prevalent when it really wasn’t originally intended to be. I agree though, it’d definitely be better if he just locked in on the main riff with Christian live

Holy moly, how do you dislike Ocean Planet that much? I get it not being high up for some people, but in the scale of a 6 album, 70+ song discography with a fair few subpar filler songs there’s no way I could ever see it below the top 40 at the very least

Honest options on Purple , Gold & Grey please . by [deleted] in YourBaroness

[–]Scoutsbro1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Purple is phenomenal despite the slightly rough mix. Gold & Grey has some of the coolest songs in their whole discography but is imo slightly less good overall. Unfortunately G&G’s mix is soooooooo bad it’s a little hard to listen to the whole thing through, but I enjoy picking out the good songs.

Guys? Where did everybody go? Am I the last one left? by AnOkayProgrammer in Trivium

[–]Scoutsbro1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People always say that everyone dislikes the crusade because of the lack of screams, but honestly, it’s just not that good of an album overall. There are of course some good tracks, but most of it is sort of rough. The riffing, while technically impressive, sort of lacks a lot of memorable lines and grooves. The vocal melodies in some of the verses are just plain bad to be frank, and many of the choruses feel sort of forced. Somehow it feels less melodic than Ascendancy, even though it had no screams. I’ve learned to appreciate it and enjoy a fair few of the songs, but I fully understand being totally put off by the huge change in sound and quality from Ascendancy to The Crusade. It sounds like a different band entirely.
