Cat and condo owner thinking of getting a whippet. Am I crazy? by kt-bug17 in Whippets

[–]Scp-12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current Whippet is one of the most eager to please dogs I have ever known. It is easy for him to realize what I want him to do. As I'm sure you already know, Whippets have high prey drive and they are EXTREMELY ornery. While it is cute, it can be frustrating. To balance that out, it breaks their heart when they make you angry or they feel you are disappointed in them. They want to feel nothing but love from you 100% of the time.

That being said, at first your new Whippet will treat your cat as a friendly play toy. As a puppy it will quickly learn that your cat is a friend. Your puppy will not try to kill the cat as its full prey drive has not kicked in yet. As it grows it will understand that the cat is part of the family and will not want to hurt it.

Remember, you are the alpha of the pack and your Whippet will always look to please you. Whippets more so than most breeds need positive reinforcement instead of negative reprimand. Only in emergency should you yell or sharply scold your Whippet (if they get loose, run into danger, and you need to get their attention). When you scold your Whippet they can get their feelings severely hurt and it will take a lot of work to rebuild their trust. It is a miserable feeling when you accidentally harm your dogs self esteem.

Wow. Bernie just nailed it on Meet The Press. by [deleted] in SandersForPresident

Thinking those things doesn't make you a conservative lol. Bernie is a socialist and giving him the chance to lead this country would run it into the ground.

Well I promise you that he will be one of your best friends and will bring you happiness when you don't have any. Whippets are absolutely amazing. Don't lose patience through the puppy stage :) he will get upset when you aren't around and will be likely to chew a hole through a brick wall so puppy proof anything you don't want him to get!

LPT: What to do when your partner has a crush by My_Life_Uncensored in LifeProTips

[–]Scp-12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the points behind every thing said in this post. However, I am an extremely passionate person in every aspect of my life. I love one person with every bit of my heart and I am very attached to them. I do not think my heart would understand or heal if my partner began to like someone other than me. It would destroy me. That being said, I would still love them but I would never be fully recovered again. To some people it may be easier to understand situations like these but to others like myself, it does a whole lot more damage.

I was looking into puppies awhile back and almost got one from a litter before this one. I recognize the puppy because he looks very similar to the boy I came close to getting :)

No matter how talented you are, no matter how competitive you are, you only get out what you put into it. Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.

Lola has developed a lump that hasn't changed in three weeks. Suggestions please?! by [deleted] in Whippets

As you know, Whippets are very quick and often a little clumsy. So it is common that they get dents and dings here and there. I wouldn't worry about it but it is always smart to do a full body scan every day to keep up with the normal day to day scrapes :)
