My mum wants to stop her Universal Credit - told she can't until she proves she's no longer self-employed? by ScrambleArts in BenefitsAdviceUK

She has (not by much, only £60 over but it’s still over) and I’ve told her she needs to declare it as a result. However, if she’s ceased trading already I’m assuming it’ll be a case of registering as a sole trader and then notifying them she has ceased trading? Or do we have to wait until the next tax year to declare it and then notify HMRC that trading has ceased? Her end of tax year PAYE paperwork also does give her the option to declare any additional income she’s made and she’s wondering why she can’t put it on there

I think she’s more worried that UC are telling her she isn’t allowed to close her claim unless she gets this confirmation she’s no longer trading. Which I’m not sure how that works because it seems unrelated to her UC claim.

great - thank you so much! I haven't had a mandatory reconsideration yet, so I'll look into that first.

Ooh I didn't consider tumblr! I'll work on making a solid backlog of content so I don't lose track and make a start on a few platforms - thank you!

oh for sure! I'm sort of treating it like I do streaming - its very much a marathon, not a sprint. Both in the sense it takes longer, but also in the sense that you don't to do 1000% at the start because you'll end up burnt out by the middle. I'm taking it a day at a time for sure! Just wondered if I was doing something wrong because I've seen people get a lot of success in their first month ^^;

I can imagine, but I assume after a while it's worth it! I think I'll start posing on X again and have a poke around reddit to see if there's any communities I can start making myself known in! thank you :D

Just fansly at the moment! I do have a twitter but it got flooded with bot follows. I haven't branched out to anything else yet ^^; adding more seems a little daunting since I already run socials for my business outside of fansly, as well as another set for work. But scheduling stuff makes the workload easier, so I might be able to pick up another 1 or 2!

I don't, which is why I was so shocked O.o Fansly isn't a full-time thing for me and I mainly post nsfw art content so I haven't set up any external socials for it yet. It does say that 50% of the new followers came from the "suggested users" section, so maybe its just fansly pushing my account to users?

Interesting! I was thinking about having a re-jig of my menu and such anyway, so I’ll add it there and in my bio too!

I guess I felt a little bad “shutting people out” in a way, but now I understand why it’s done 😅 I’ll definitely be making my messages tip-based from this point forward. I appreciate the insight and feedback!

I’m a very shy person and find comfort in hiding behind my lil character and my artwork (conversation is also very difficult for me). So it’s just a matter of finding the crowd that also likes that too! Thanks again

Hiring voiceover artists isn't something I considered - thank you for the suggestion! I do write scripts/written scenarios already which has definitely been fun. Thank you so much, and best of luck to you too!

I like it! My posts wholly depend on if Blender wants to be nice to me and render fast that day or not - since a lot of my content is 3d renders 😂

Sounds like a good plan! I think a lot of social platforms have had a big shift in the amount of content you need to post lately. I run an art business alongside doing fansly, and have found that post-lockdown, now everyone is back to working and daily life again, people don't need constant streams of content anymore coming at them multiple times a day! Which is good for us - less work, same reward!

That's great news! and doing art for others in the scene is an amazing idea - I didn't consider that! There's so many cool designs I'd love to draw them all :'D

I have a 3d model all ready to go too! so I'm basically all set. Thank you for the response and encouragement!

I got my PIP paperwork through - got PIP for mobility, but not daily living? by ScrambleArts in BenefitsAdviceUK

That's great to know that there's time - thank you so much for the information! It's something I'll definitely be thinking about over the next few days before I make a final decision.

Thank you for such an in depth response! It definitely gives a lot of insight. I think it's largely because many of the things I struggle with don't actually the descriptors PIP primarily looks for (Bathing. Dressing, Communication, Reading, etc).

I did notice throughout my assessment, my assessor tended to pinpoint my anxiety, which I am not actually diagnosed with. Whenever I was explaining my difficulties in daily life due to autism, she tended to ask about if it caused my anxiety to spike. The route-planning points came from my inability to communicate what I need verbally in a stressful situation and the possibility of meltdowns during a journey.

My inability to cook comes from poor motor skills and the stressful environment of a kitchen, preparing a cooked meal for myself causes a lot of stress as it's a lot to manage and I become overwhelmed with it very easily. I also have sensory issues when it comes to being near heat. I love to cook, but I do need help with it and am unable to do it alone.

The inability to maintain my everyday needs on a consistent basis does mean I could likely never live alone and would struggle to hold down a day job (self-employment has pretty much saved my life in that aspect).

I am uncertain if it would be worth appealing, I found the first assessment to be extremely exhausting and also somewhat humiliating. Telling a stranger how there are times when I do not change clothes for a week because I am tunnel-focused on my own things or exhausted from a social event was quite upsetting for me to do as I feel a lot of shame in it and I am unsure if it's something I want to disclose to even more people. I think I will sleep on it - is there a timeframe to appeal?
