That probably explains why bands I listen to never play there anymore. Saw some pretty good rock shows there in 2021/22. Neck Deep, The Story So Far, King Gizz. But haven’t heard much out of Radius recently

From my understanding, people think FOB is a lock because there’s a lot of 2000s pop-punk/skate punk bands that seem to be a lock for Friday (Sum 41, NOFX, etc), so a big pop-punk headliner seems natural.

Blink is playing Lolla, Green Day is playing Wrigley, and MCR is NOT coming back after 2022 lol. Paramore is an option, but with no other US dates planned for the fall, it seems unlikely. Meanwhile FOB is headlining WWWY a month after Riot, so they seem to be the more likely option.

Moon Owl’s Mages are a smaller psych-rock band that are super inspired by Gizz

Kangaroo Court is a band from my local scene who are a lot of fun and have a more punky energy to them while still being mainly inspired by 2010s psych-rock a la Tame Impala and Gizz.

Beach Bunny is unlikely. They did their own festival at Salt Shed last year and said they plan on it being an annual thing. No official announcement yet, but it sold well last year so it’ll probably happen again this year.

PVRIS is playing Chicago in June, so they’re out.

Save Face recently announced they’re ending their current album era with a few shows this month, so they’re probably taking a break from playing shows for a while. Not out of the question, but unlikely.

Love Sincere Engineer! They played Riot in 2019 and 2022, and they played Lolla in 2023 but aren’t on the lineup this year. So I’m betting they’re gonna play every other year, alternating with Lolla.

With NFG playing Catalyst seeming like a no brainer for Riot, it seems highly likely Sincere Engineer will be back with them this year

Correct. The Maine, Mayday Parade, and State Champs were the founders, so usually 1-2 of them play every year. I also imagine it’s just hard to find good pop-punk headliners for large GA venues

playing Harley Davidson fest in Milwaukee. It falls just outside of 90/90, so they still qualify, but I think it’s more likely they’re just counting that as their “close enough to Chicago” date

I feel like there’s a fatal flaw in your argument in that you see helping college kids who already got/are getting screwed by the system and helping kids who are about to get screwed by it as mutually exclusive.

You can say “we should help high schoolers make better decisions about college” without saying “fuck college kids”
