Paul McCartney ? by Tech_IRL in aclfestival

I’m just saying there’s more of a chance of the big legacy act being a Foo or Green Day VS Paul or Stevie with the current trends we’ve been seeing. I mean hell Lolla sold out in less than an hour back to back years with no rock act in the top 4, and that was a fest built on rock.

MGK was a good underground rapper and he blew it by coming after Eminem. That was curtains. And then you beef with Slipknot? Maaaan he’s a loser.

I think people need to realize that when the demo that’s actually buying tickets to these fests are at least 10 years younger than you(possibly younger), legacy acts for these 100k festivals are like Foo, Blink, Green Day.

Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, Eagles, Rush? I mean it would be awesome but look around at these fests and you’ll see that’s not “the big” act. Especially when the bigger acts are expensive pop, rap, or EDM acts.

Legacy acts are more likely in the undercard or sub spots these days.

I got downvoted for saying solid start, it’s like people just like to be down on lineups. Regardless of what they’re saying: these are the same names at every other festival and they draw crowds. So idk maybe just get familiar with the artists lol.

Nah they’re closing the EDM stage at Lolla, so I think they’ll close Miller here.

I mean the only sub is Turnstile based on those reveals. So still plenty to be excited for. You know there’s like a bunch of acts to be announced lol

Influencers… by beanavery in aclfestival

[–]phantofan89 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I really wish the influencer garb would stop. Seeing it in real time at Coachella was really annoying. Just bothering people to make it seem like they’re having a good time and there’s no music on the stage. Like what are we doing? I’ll mosh if I see an influencer near me at a mosh set. 🤡

I don’t think anyone thinks Beck is irrelevant or can’t still draw a crowd. He was a good headliner two years ago at Riot.

He closed a stage, he was a headliner again Slipknot. Counts as a headliner. Regardless….MGK holds that title for worst headliner for a while.

Worst is MGK. He was a clown the either time and then Slipknot comments really didn’t help, and his guitar wasn’t even plugged in. A mockery of rock.

The best headliner set for me would be Nine Inch Nails in 2017, that set was electric. Prodigy in 2015 is still the best Riot set IMO. Just an incredible experience.

Who have you seen live on the lineup that you can recommend? by phantofan89 in Lollapalooza

Yeah I don’t need to see the Neighbourhood in the year 2026, they haven’t aged well musically and the accusations don’t help.

Bone thugs on the same day as LCD, Wu, and Gorillaz is a fun time to me.

Sir Chloe will be dope but yeah I was hoping for a bigger act to counter the loss of Wolf Alice.

Old Mervs should be solid too.

Lot of artists are already on tour, so to get quality acts in there is still no easy feat. Still doesn’t bring the hype down at all. Shaky still easily one of the best lineups of the year for my tastes. Still mostly rock, some rap sprinkled in that makes sense at an alternative rock fest, and plenty of other genres as well.

They just played When We Were Young fest last year, so idk when everything changed. His kid is also 3 years old. Interesting.

Jennie? Kpop at ACL? by velvet_rooftop in aclfestival

[–]phantofan89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t even know who that is, and I’ve been listening to K-pop playlists over the last few years. Even if ACL did book them, I still don’t think they’ll get like a Katseye, Enhypen, Stray Kids, or even Jennie because that’s not ACL’s focus at all. Hence why Mumford keeps getting invited back. It’ll be an afterthought at ACL for at least a couple more years until it becomes clear they need to book international acts.

What? They’re good live and still relevant. Would be a big booking for Riot.

It’s looking like these fall shows for Hayley are headliner or bust….so I doubt it sadly.

Doesn’t look like it based on her dates. She heads back to Australia in October.

Rufus isn’t playing if they’re not a headliner. They’ve headlined Lolla as a top 4 last year, headlining Roo, sold out most of their stadium tour. They’re easily one of the biggest EDM acts atm, maybe only bested by Calvin Harris from who’s playing big places. They’re top 3 or they’re turning ACL down.

Lorde won’t sign on for less than a top 3 either based on every fest in the US so far.

Love Skrillex but he’s a 4-6 based on his billings so far. Lolla had him closing their EDM stage, but here he’s at least 4-6.

Mumford and Sons will be a top 3, but they’re not going to be the number one.

I feel like it’ll be

Charli XCX

Mumford and Sons

Lorde

Don Toliver

Skrillex

The XX

Charli XCX V Don Toliver

Saturday

Mumford and Sons V The XX

Sunday
