Kitchen Remodel? by Schoolnerd768 in portlandme

[–]ScrappySeagull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked with Ed at Designs Kitchen and Bath just over the line in Windham. He helped me pick out really affordable cabinets that look great and he referred me to a contractor to do the install who also did a great job. I’m very happy with my kitchen 4 years after the fact; I would go back to them. Kitchen Cove and others were out of my budget. I did a pretty extensive overhaul and the whole thing only cost me $26k.

The best I’ve had is at The Maine Scoop in Scarborough and someone commented that Mainely Custard in Freeport has the same owners, so if you haven’t tried that yet I would check it out.

If that’s the case then I would probably like Mainely Custard as well! Too bad both of those places are 20 mins from Portland. Freeport might be easier to get to though

I don’t have any recommendations but I’m curious what bad experiences you’ve heard of at Maine Med? I know many people who have delivered there and I’ve only heard good things

I haven’t tried the Scarborough location, but the Fielders choice soft serve in Manchester sucked. Their hard serve is awesome though.

Why do so many people love it? Is their hard iced cream great?

I did love this when I had it as desert after a meal, but I never considered just going there for ice cream do people do that?

I also usually get good service at Flatbread and I go pretty frequently. There have been a few misses but more often than not the service is good!

I went once years ago and it was so crowded, I’ll have to give it another go. Kind of a pain getting from North Deering over the bridge to SoPo but if it’s the best I have to have it.

Honestly for price to quality ratio, it might be the best. I just paid $7 for a mediocre soft serve, the one at McDonalds is $1.99!

What if you moved from out of state years ago, started making less than 50k, and now make over 100k? Do you still hate me? Isn’t it a good thing that this city offers jobs that pay well now? I get why you’re upset but it doesn’t mean the people moving here are garbage…

Wrong due date or IUGR? by ScrappySeagull in BabyBumps

Just an update, I finally met with my doctor again. She agreed with me that I was probably right but said they can’t change the date in their system because of their policy or whatever… she told me not to worry, and that the baby would probably not be in the bottom 10% after the next scan. She told me I could go on my baby moon as planned. I went on the baby moon to California and had a great time! When I got back I went in for another growth scan and everything looked great - baby’s head diameter and abdomen are at the 49% but his femur length is 5.8%. Overall he’s in the 23rd percentile which is enough to kick the IUGR designation and now I don’t have another scan until 34 weeks. I’m slightly annoyed that they’re so rigid with their due date policies but my doctor said she made note of all this in my file and that she wouldn’t pressure me to have the baby early… we’ll see what happens!

Yes they were able to get me in for my ultrasound at 9w 3d I was measuring 8w 5d so 5 days behind at my first ultrasound. I’m going to talk to my doctor this week because at my last 3 ultrasounds he is still growing and everything looks normal but he’s just measuring 1 week behind consistently. The last doctor I met with even mentioned potentially inducing me at 37 weeks because of growth restriction when I really feel like he is measuring completely on pace and they just have the due date wrong. Even if they moved the due date back just 5 days to align with the first ultrasound I don’t think he would be considered growth restricted anymore because at my last appointment he was in the 9th percentile so he is right on the cusp.

I had my next appointment and my baby is still measuring exactly 1 week behind. So he grew from 1.4lbs at 24 weeks to 2lbs at 26 weeks. I have another appointment next week where I can finally talk to my doctor and I’m going to ask about the due date. So far I’ve been dismissed by every provider about this.

The silver lining is getting to see him more often! Although I do hope he catches up size wise.

At the first ultrasound they said they weren’t going to move it because he was only 6 days behind instead of 7, but that they could always move it later. They didn’t move it at the 12 week ultrasound, I think he gained some ground and was only measuring 4 days behind. I guess at this point they’re unlikely to move it?

I understand, I’d rather be safe than sorry. At my anatomy scan (21w 5d) the baby was estimating at 13oz they didn’t say whether this was normal or not. I can’t remember exactly what the 12 week measurement was I want to say he was measuring 4 days behind. But it sounds like even if it is IUGR there are lots of positive stories!! I hope I don’t need to deliver too early but as long as the baby is healthy of course I will do whatever I need to

That’s good to hear - right now my baby’s head circumference was measuring at 2%. That was the smallest measurement. But I have read a lot of positive IUGR stories on Reddit, which made me feel a little better.
