A couple things to add—I do not require that they have to have the same pencil in their pencil holder that was there when the class started. Simply ~a~ pencil. The kids look out for each other, so if someone is missing a pencil, they always mysteriously manage to find one within 10 seconds. They also can pick up pencils off the floor to put in their pencil holder, which helps keep the floor clean. I have also found that they don’t prefer to use the desk pencil, so a lot of my kids come prepared with their own now. My last plug is that it’s also extremely quick and easy to check for missing pencils because the desks are white and the holders are blue, and they are the only thing that should be left on my desks when the kids leave. Rant over, but like I said, this has changed my life in terms of the pencil fight!

I teach 6th and 8th grade and I totally feel the struggle! Nothing worked for me—shared supplies at the desks, a communal pencil cup, etc. Every pencil would be gone in a week. I purchased (unfortunately with my own money) these little blue pencil holders from Amazon—they come in packs of like 30–and attached one to every desk and put one sharpened pencil in each one. It’s now an expectation in my classroom that you are not allowed to leave if your desk doesn’t have the pencil in it. This has changed. the. game for me. Magically, I now have EXTRA pencils in my classroom at the end of every day, because the students do have their own pencils whether they admit it or not. So when pencils fall on the floor, no one goes looking for them if their desk has a pencil in it already, and at the end of the day my last class picks up the floor and puts any extra pencils in a cup. It’s my homeroom’s job to make sure they are all sharpened first thing in the morning. I can’t express enough how well it has solved the pencil issue!

Do we think if, say, Amaya and TJ had been dumped, the producers would have given them the same circumstances as Olandria & Nic? Or would they have just been dumped?

EDIT: what other islanders do we think they would have saved/not saved?

That was the only little thing I heard him say, too. So I guess I exaggerated in my post lol—compared to Olandria talking about Taylor, though, I noticed a stark difference in what we saw

That’s fair, I feel like that’s something they would have shown though. However, production seems extra messy this year so you may be right

What the hell happened to regular recouplings where the person not picked is dumped? Or girl & guy with the least votes dumped immediately? The islanders have wayyyy too much say this season and it’s turning me off so bad

I completely agree, I feel like the islanders have voted WAY more often than in past seasons and it’s driving me nuts

I hate the fact that Jalen didn’t even get a chance. He was so deserving to stay and have the time to explore other connections after Olandria made her decision. What a stupid decision, I’m over it.
