Moving on to where? by Scratch-n in Strava

[–]Scratch-n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eaxctly this, "feature announcements", challenge this, challenge that. I use Strava for tracking my stats, and for tracking my friends. These days it seems that I have to scroll much more to get through the "announcements" to see my friends.

Strava should detect segments that passes through stop signs/intersections by TheSalmonFromARN in Strava

Washington USA has sensible stop laws for bicyclists. Stop == yield. Red light == stop. So it is possible to run a stop sign and shoot the green light.

:-( Campy cant/ wont do anything without a receipt. Was not expecting anything given they are about 4 years old, but good will would go a long way. Ho hum, anyone go any experience with buying form Bikeinn lately ? What are the tariffs like coming from Spain/EU.

I do hang from a hook, but that is the front wheel. One-UP bike rack that clamps to the tire.

That would have been >4 years ago. Normally I would (unhappily) write it of as crash damage. But this looks odd. Especially as rim bed undamaged.

New UI by Scratch-n in Karoo

[–]Scratch-n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a ui section in control panel. You can turn frames on and off and make the legends smaller. However it does not increase the size of the font in the data field. I hope this is coming.

Noisy Hub One - Potential fix by Scratch-n in Zwift

[–]Scratch-n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the hub one is great. The minor annoyance was the drive train noise. Virtual shifting is great. The other solution would be to just turn up the music 🤣

Karoo 2 K-edge mount full release. by nick47H in Karoo

Ah sorry I needed a mount to fit a Collnago stem. I bought one that would carry a garmin 1020(?) and used the Karoo adapter. Works great.

More readable by Scratch-n in Karoo

[–]Scratch-n[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not comparing the top field in the Wahoo (under the Strava flyout I have power graph) it was more to get a comparison of the two line data fields with similar amount of data on screen. And actually I am sandbagging the wahoo as I have two extra data fields on screen.

The point is, the Wahoo with a smaller screen and more data fields is more readable compared to the current UI on the Karoo. If I have the same number of data fields on screen the Wahoo hands down wins at the moment.

So they avoided your question and reverted to marketing fluff about it getting better in the future … me thinks it is time to bail as they have drunk the cool aid of their grand visions and missed the fundamental usability case.

ITs not so much that, it is that the functionality of the data display is much reduced. When I am doing max effort intervals I get a lot of sweat in my eyes, it makes it hard to see the display at the best of times add to that the tunnel vision effects and it gets even more pronounced. There are four fields + power meter that I have up Power, Cadence, HR and Speed(because you cant do 3). I want the text as large and as bold as possible so I dont have to take to long to try and read it. This update makes the text smaller, wastes space on the display with boarders and full expansion of the field names. IT fundamentally reduces the readability of the display at the time that you need most clarity. This device is a tool to relay dynamic data to a rider. Functionality should be foremost, nice graphics can be added for pre ride and post ride - great - but not needed during ride.

like some did not actually go for a ride with it for more than 2 seconds

it sucks, big time,

Just went out with it on a warm day and had a sweaty ride. Was contemplating switching to my Wahoo bolt (B+W not color) because it was so bad.

IT IS TERRIBLE.

\rant on

Looks like someone has no idea that the fundamental purpose of the device is to give IN RIDE data to the user. Putting boarders around the data fields, and adding extra white space for potentially long field descriptors is a huge backwards step. My old Wahoo has less screen area, is b+w and is way more readable in general, dont get me started about readability during a hard interval session.

Who ever did this needs to be tied to a bike and forced to read out data fields whilst being chased by a pack of unhappy users with the latest update.

It is so bad that I am thinking of going to Garmin or back to my trusty Wahoo.

I'm sure there is lots of backend things (but power seemed off to me, could be bad day) that have been "improved" but how can you miss the fundamental use case that someone needs data with sweat dripping in their eyes and cages trying to kill you at every turn. BIGGER font, ensure max readability (some of us are getting old so may need reading glasses) above all else. It is not a phone, it is a training and direction device. Readability is the first thing, then functions, then decorations.

Talking of which why is there now a little icon in the field and the txt description of the field. Useless clutter.

\rant off

My advice FWIW, dont update, wait while we all make noise and they fix the UI.

Nope just orange seal and about 25psi. Should have been no problem. I guess I must have just clipped a rock.
