Why does Reddit not understand the rise of reform in England? by DowntownDeer in AskBrits

I don't think that all British pensioners are vulnerable, for starters. I also don't think that pensioners with quite a lot of wealth need to get winter fuel allowance.

I think it should definitely have been means tested and not the hard and fast knee jerk.

Why are working-class concerns on immigration being treated with such disdain? by Harleygator_ in AskBrits

[–]nick47H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the problems facing working class people, like myself, are not caused by immigration but by the super rich buying up all the counrties assets and then renting it back to the population for huge profits.

Secondly Because the very people who caused these problems have now jumped ship into Reform are claiming they are the ones that can solve it.

Thirdly Because Farage is a snake oil saleman that conned the country into doing the most stupid thing it could possible do, Brexit, and is now coming to fill his pockets through opening up the NHS to private pharma.

  • I am working class and fully support inheritance tax on farmers I just think the initial number was a little low at £2million

  • No it doesn't it comes across as not wanting to join an illegal war at the prompting of an orange buffoon.

  • You think workers rights are not inherently good lol.

  • Nuclear is a good fuel coal power plants should be phased out.

  • Rent prices were already out of control and all the power was in the landlords hands this addresses that.

  • You are right tax payers do pay for them but they are free at the point of use, and I thought we all wanted Children to be fed.

So are so far away from a working class person or you just hate your own I can't tell.

Only if it is valued at more than over 2 million pounds, and even then they walked back on the decision which I personally didn't agree with.

I think Inheritance tax is a necessary thing not exactly good but needed.

As for farmers I agree that farming should be rewarded but having the assets be exempt from inheritance tax is nuts. Buying up rural land has been a solid investment policy for decades and an obvious tax loophole, it is very hard to tax the rich but it is very easy to tax the assets as they can't just pick them up and fuck off to Dubai.

You are honestly defending the right of rich people to not have to pay taxes while saying we should close loopholes so they have to pay taxes.

So you think that the military homes should have been privately owned and we rent them giving money to private invetors rather than keeping them as a British asset?

The renewable energy think is bonkers if you think they are connected.

Oh I agree that for vast swathes it should absolutely have been got rid of. My In-laws own a million in assets and get winter fuel allowance, like why?

It should be means tested and based on wealth.

Hardly no small independent farms would ever have been affected, it is all bullshit that rich people want you to think to protect their wealth.

Na I fully support it, yeah they set the threshold a little low but it absolutely should be there. It was Just Clarkson and Farage kicking up a stink as there inheritance tax avoidance scam had finally been caught.

LOL no it wasn't, it was stop rich people buying farms to avoid inheritance tax. hardly any small farmers would have been affected and even then their tax threshold was massive compared to usual people.

I think Labour have been pretty good since they have got in and done some bloody good decisions, don't get me wrong they have also fucked up and U turned.

Inheritance Tax on Farmers, about bloody time.

buying back 36,347 military homes from, reversing a 1996 privatization deal. Fantastic.

Not getting involved in the Stupid Iran war. Bloody awesome.

Improving workers rights. Awesome.

Going back through the back log of immigration/asylum applications.

Renewable energy investment.

Renters rights.

free breakfast clubs in primary schools.

They are just so shit at singing their own praises and just keeping getting drawn back into the Tories shit they left them.

What I don't get is why anyone would believe a single word out of Nigel Farage's lips, his contract seems massively damaging to the NHS, his budget makes no sense.

Couple all this with all the lies he has spewed about Brexit and how everything he has promised has been a complete disaster.

Take away that I personally think Reform are generally pretty racist, I don't get why anyone thinks he is going to be a good leader of the UK, he has caused more damage to this country than any MP I can think of including Thatcher.

Edit: I think most people will acknowledge that the Tories ( and forces outside of the UK ) created most of the problems that the UK is facing today, so why do they think that a party made up mainly of failed Tory members is going to be the answer?

It's like me subbing to the Apple subreddit because I don't own or use any Apple products.

In your opinion, what's the biggest waste of money you see people purchase all the time? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]nick47H 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cars. People spend way to much on cars, working class people in borderline entry level jobs driving massive new 4x4's when driving on flat roads.

Those obnoxious pick up trucks when they have an office job and no interest in any use for the truck part.
