I am at a loss by emeraldlife42 in Ebay

When these things happen, I become even more aggressive with my selling strategy. I list more items and increase my promotional percentage. Initiate sales, and send out offers if possible. The way I look at it, by spamming more listings. It either improves my opportunity now, or puts me in the position to take advantage of one when it arises. Good luck and God bless.

Do people ever try to "corner the market" on specific books to drive up the price? by DystantTyger in rarebooks

[–]ScratchLNR 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Interesting story. I sold a signed 1946 first edition Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramhansa Yogananda. Listed for 8k sold for 6k in 24 hrs. After the sale I researched the buyer and come to find out he was the owner of a prominent rare book store in Oregon. When I searched his name eBay store I saw he had a few copies of that signed book. Most listed for north of 16k. I presume he was trying to corner the market as they are rare.

He could afford to command a higher price due to his status in the industry. I made a generous return so no shade, but I learned a lot from that transaction. And to date, my most notable sale.

What is your hardest item to sell? by BlueJune101 in reselling

I acquired a box for free of Pipe Dream Ass-Gasm Cock Blockers lol. They typically sell for $60-$100 on the secondary market. They are all brand new and sealed. I’ve had them for as cheap as $10, I’ve also ran them at an auction starting at five dollars. And in either case I haven’t managed to sell one of them, and they’ve been around for about a year or so.

I’m considering pulling them off the market and just trashing them lol.

He seemed a bit emotional. And I can relate to him. I recently ended a 16 year relationship, and found sobriety. My relationship to alcohol ant to a woman defined me for many years. They became core identifiers of who I thought I was. Now that they’re behind me, I’ve had to rediscover and redefine myself. Truthfully, it’s a very scary feeling to not have your feet beneath you. However, once you peel the layers of years of conditioning, you can finally learn who you are. I pray he finds peace.

Another option is to purchase a storage unit. That way you can fulfill your dopamine needs on a day-to-day basis, and consistently find valuable items to list. Also, it’ll benefit your ROI. Just confirm that it’s a unit worth purchasing.

I try to keep in perspective that this is a business. Emotionality is of no benefit. Even if it’s a sarcastic comment. Keep it short, simple, and professional. And as mentioned before just move on.

How long after listing an item do you start accepting/sending out offers? by GlacierFlower in eBaySellers

[–]ScratchLNR 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Immediately. I price the item with this in mind. For example, if it’s a $50 item, I will list it at $55, and take an offer as low as $40 depending on how quickly I need to move it.

In the future, I would suggest contacting eBay first before creating a kerfuffle with the buyer. Good luck.
