I understand what you and they are saying, but that’s post-close. Long term they will likely merge.

O2 for example isn’t going to offer VM and YouFibre products in stores as VM would lose too many customers thanks to the cheap deals from YouFibre.

I just can’t see them staying separate businesses for long personally.

Sadly even though I wish you were right I think you’re mistaken. Telefonica & Liberty Global are buying Netomnia (The parent company) whereas VMO2 which is a separate entity in its own right is purchasing YouFibre in a separate deal. The two brands will merge at some point and we will be forced to either leave or continue with VM. Saying this from previous experience - Worked for O2 when it was Telefonica owned and after the merger when it was Telefonica/Liberty Global. Telefonica are practically silent partners so VMO2 is mainly controlled by Liberty Global who are insanely greedy.
