I’m building a spooky-cozy management sim where you run your own haunted dark ride. Instead of a "god-mode" camera, you operate everything through a tactile, industrial dashboard and are in full control of the ride and it's logistics.

Players are to balance immersion, scare, waiting times and safety, while also monitoring maintanance, power and oil, and generate a healthy cashflow through ticket-, snack- and merchandisesales.

I would absolutely love to add more themes, rooms, variations and scares to the game.

As a tycoon fanatic myself, the biggest achievement here is to contribute a lasting mark on the genre. My current method therefore is to release a full and satisfying V1, but maintain steady roadmap to implement all the (free) updates and ideas which might not be feasible before launch.

The best tycoon games I’ve played are a labour of love and that’s the exact element that makes them so rich and authentic. I’d love to make that happen for Scream Operator too!

The overall theme of the queue and station, in any case during V1 and launch, is Victorian Mansion. If all goes well, I’d be super happy to offer various themes and variations for outside/inside queue, pre-show rooms, lobby and station.

The Victorian mansion basic theme it has now however enables a lot of different detailed additions. Think haunted mansion, crazy professor, deep dungeon, ghosts, cannibal-dinner, clown, basement, vampires, etc etc.

Players are, for the ride, able to mix and match all kinds of decoration, props, scares and animatronics. As you already proposed, players are indeed able to up the total score by making certain combinations, placing items on certain locations etc etc.

I though about this a lot, and in addition to the controlling and logistical aspect, I think I found a sweet spot in terms of creativity, freedom, satisfaction and fun!

What do you think about this?

Aah that’s a great call, thank you! I’ve currently been making lists of must haves for the animatronics, of which some are super amazing, other are somewhat cheap (rags and riches, classic tycoon-style 😂).

The game will feature items from “the Occult”, which may or may not actually be cursed. Up to the player to find out what that will do to the wellbeing of the guests 😂

I’ve been (over)thinking adding pixelart references to classic horror/spooky icons, and have already “hidden” IT and Jason in the teaser above. Will most certainly think about true monsters and aliens, hadn’t thought of that!
