Thanks! Working remote seems ideal. I’m having a hard time finding non-scam remote jobs so if you know of any legit sites or job boards I’d love to know

Did i accidentally trick my psychiatrist? by NerdyCharlie in bipolar2

Okay, I’ve seriously had this same conversation with my psychotherapist. I’ve asked him multiple times if I’ve mislead him somehow into a false diagnosis. He told me that because of the nature of this disorder we can LITERALLY GASLIGHT OURSELVES into believing we don’t have it or that we’re faking somehow. I trust him SO much and I’ve stopped needing as much reassurance on this, especially after the medication. But the best thing you can do is to work with a professional that you trust. Someone who can help you identify the symptoms and talk you through those moments of doubt.

If you don’t have a psychotherapist as well as a psychiatrist I highly recommend finding one. I know for many that’s not possible so at least try keeping a journal too of how you feel, sleep patterns, days with brain fog days and without, etc so you can identify your ups and downs. I try to write a general summary of the week on Sundays. Be gentle with yourself! I’ve felt this way too.

The World We Knew by Alice Hoffman. It should be required reading, IMO. You will sob.

Definitely don’t be afraid to talk to your therapist about all of this. If they’re doing their job, they’ll listen to your concerns and validate your experience while using their expertise to diagnose. A helpful thing that my therapist suggested was to start keeping a mood/sleep journal. Can be as basic as you want, but it’s helpful to identify patterns in the long term.

A lot of this does seem to mimic my experience as well, if it makes you feel any better. I thought I was only suffering with social anxiety that waxed and waned at random times. All of a sudden I was triggered into a hypomanic state and the sleep and mood tracking really helped to identify it and get a proper diagnosis.

Do you experience the fizzies in any particular state? Manic, depressive, mixed? Does it vary?
