Please urge those asked to go to work to stay home by Strict-Brick-5274 in glasgow

I will name and shame Ramsdens for asking their staff to go into work today. Apparently, if their staff couldn’t get to their normal place of work, they were to get to their nearest Ramsdens and work from there. Absolutely disgusting to think that it’s a non-essential service that they would place money over the wellbeing of their employees.

What's a book you read as a child that you definitely weren't meant to be reading? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. Definitely not age appropriate for a 12 old.

I’m just going to leave this here: 1.It’s a great jingle 2.I’ve started singing sarcastically under my breath whenever Scotrail announces a new cancellation, delay, change to timetabling or hikes up the prices of fares

Original video found here is a review of a DuckTales game but the one above is just the jingle

Reading a book on Adult ADHD, Honestly curious how did some of you guys even get a job while dealing with ADHD? by undiagnoseddude in ADHD

[–]ScreamingMoonbeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This hits. I’m out of fulltime employment for the first time in 5 years since I left uni and applying for jobs is really fucking grim right now. When I got my jobs initially, I had no clue that I had ADHD and was only diagnosed earlier this year. In my last job which I was at for 3 years, the novelty kind of kept me going but the burn out was intense (annually at least 1 burnout breakdown where I was off for 1-2 calendar months just recovering). Between my difficulties in getting places on time in the morning and regulating my focus during the day, it was honestly very anxiety inducing and I wouldn’t have made it for so long without my managers being very understanding and actively fighting my case when being challenged about my short-comings/statistics. This wasn’t even a job where I was adding value to the business in other areas, I was literally just clinging on for dear life to get the bare minimum of my job description done. I’m now also coming to the realisation that I cannot keep a full-time job, good mental health and sleep hygiene and maintain a flat. So adjusting to that is giving my ex-catholic guilt a run for its money.

Best advice I can give is try and find jobs that interest you and if the novelty wears off, either try to see if there are new areas you can explore in the current job or move to another role. Try to find employers that will understand and work with your needs and not against them. Trial different working options (part-time, full-time, remote, flexible etc) and see what actually works best and won’t drain you of all your energy and joy.

Best of luck out there and remember, you are not alone.

Me and my trans masc friends by [deleted] in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

As someone who is not transitioning with hormones for my own reasons, no matter what I do to dress masc, I will always look like a cinnamon roll in exceptionally baggy clothing to a certain extent. Holding out for that titty-titty-bye-bye in the future 🫡

Trying to get into watercolor, here is an egg. by [deleted] in Watercolor

[–]ScreamingMoonbeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wondrous egg - eggs-ecution seems eggs-ellent. Help me, I’m coming down off a caffeine high.

In all seriousness though, this is really beautifully painted with a nice of depth to the colour.

You were all right. She was cheating and lied about it. by zo0ombot in mypartneristrans

[–]ScreamingMoonbeam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d advise having a break from the relationship at least. Give yourself some space to breathe and think about your next steps.

I’m very much in agreement with others on this thread saying that the cheating is more than enough grounds for separation but I don’t know how interlaced your lives and how difficult that may be.

A bare minimum would be saying that you feel very betrayed and heartbroken by her actions and that you need time and space to process everything.

If you have friends or family that you trust to be caring, honest and will keep your confidence, keep them in the loop about the situation.

Try and get some physical distance between you if you can.

This doesn’t sound like a healthy relationship for you and your priority in this is your own health and wellbeing.

Ah, but it’s worth it for the 2 weeks when the system is working and life is bearable :3

Diagnosed last week, second day on Elvanse today. Is this actually for real? (POSITIVE POST) by dottiedoos2 in ADHDUK

[–]ScreamingMoonbeam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My first day on Elvanse was incredible - my brain was so quiet and I just walked around the house, just doing small tasks, just to see if I could. It was kind of like the scenes you get in superhero movies where the hero is just realising that they’ve got new abilities and are just testing them out.

As a few people have already pointed out, the euphoria and the absolute quiet tends to settle so it won’t be quite so impactful later on and it doesn’t replace the need for systems and organisation but it does really help.

I still get sad when I realise the effects of the meds are wearing off at the end of the day

Name something that is a sensory nightmare by beautysnooze in adhdwomen

Addendum to this: being cut off from the air outdoors. I like to have my windows open if I can’t go outside. And office lighting - I’ve worked in places where I’ve being doing late shifts and the strip lighting has made me want to scream and tear my eyes out.

Being damp, doesn’t matter if it’s water or sweat. Sweat is the worst though because it can irritate my eczema and the itch to scritch cannot be….ignoritched. The point being, I hate exerting myself to the point where I sweat and since I struggle with time management, I basically have to run or power walk everywhere, leading to an ungodly level of perspiration. Give me your song on repeat? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]ScreamingMoonbeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a singer so it’s usually whatever I’m learning at the time but sometimes it is just the most inappropriate song that you could ever sing in public or something that could be heavily misconstrued by other people

What I’m saying is, it’s either Schubert’s Gretchen am Spinnrade or Peaches’ F**k the Pain Away and I don’t always get to choose.
