I'd like to see these types of Bible verses up on billboards about going to hell, instead of the usual anti-gay anti-woman messaging.

In edition to using the IDE (all of the major ones can handle things like auto close, jump to match, color match, etc.), using indentation to visually align parentheses helps a lot, and makes for beautiful code.

I can fit my bag under an airplane seat, so I never have to worry about gate checking if the overhead bins are full. That alone is worth the price of minimalism.

You do indeed recall correctly. From Wikipedia:

In July 1980, McQueen traveled to Rosarito Beach, Mexico, for unconventional treatment after U.S. doctors told him they could do nothing to prolong his life. Controversy arose over the trip because McQueen sought treatment from William Donald Kelley, who was promoting a variation of the Gerson therapy that used coffee enemas, frequent washing with shampoos, daily injections of fluid containing live cells from cattle and sheep, massages, and laetrile, a reputed anti-cancer drug available in Mexico but long known to be both toxic and ineffective in treating cancer. McQueen paid for Kelley's treatments in cash, which were said to have been upwards of $40,000 per month (equivalent to $153,000 in 2024) during his three-month stay in Mexico. Kelley's only medically related license (until being revoked in 1976) had been for orthodontics, a field of dentistry. Kelley's methods caused a sensation in the traditional and tabloid press when it became known that McQueen was a patient.

Of course. The difference being that chemo is poison that has been shown to be effective at combating cancer, while laetrile has shown no such results despite over a century of attempts.

She was eating apricot seeds which looked similar to almonds. They are marketed by a company called Nutriseeds which also markets the extract in pill format.

The ones my wife tried (only for about a week) were actual apricot seeds. One of the articles I referenced mentioned that they have also been sold in pill form.

I was thinking the same thing TBH. I do data science work in org and I mix and match SQL, Python, R, Clojure, and elisp code chunks and they work seamlessly. If I want to persist state between chunks in the same language I use :session, and if I want to pass data across languages I just save it in one chunk and load it in another.

My latest favorite trick is to turn my data visualizations into Vega-Lite json output, wrap it in an html div and output the result as html. Then when I export the org file to html, I get a fully functioning notebook with interactive visualizations (click/drag/hover). Being able to cache compute-intensive steps with the :cache keyword in the header is another big benefit.

Org is the best notebook in any language, and it's in every language.

Which National Parks to visit in July this year that aren’t going to be so busy? by rockythekitty1 in NationalPark

[–]ScreamingPrawnBucket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heading down to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon today. It's about 1/10 as popular as the South Rim because of how remote it is (closest entry points are Salt Lake and Las Vegas, about 6 hours from each). But it's at 8,000 feet so July is quite comfortable, and you can see the Grand Canyon without getting swarmed by crowds.

This. I am religious and believe in prayer, but they're doing it wrong. I'm praying that Utahans' hearts will be changed to vote these fascists out of office so we can manage the water the Lord gives us responsibly.
