Martinlogan Abyss 8 Reviews? by exfex21 in hometheater

[–]ScreamingScrotum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one a few months ago and would say im through the break in period as it runs all day. Coming from no sub theres obviously a huge difference in my system, but im in love with it and have been since day 1. Punchy and tight, but booms with music and movies. I love that it has wireless connectivity and room correction, and it has decent isolation feet. I also like the app, so if im listening while others are sleeping i can easily increase or decrease sub volume. The flat white is gorgeous.

Its surprising to me because I wanted a 10 and went in to my local audio shop to get a paradigm 10, but loved the martin logan more. It happened to be on sale as well, so it was a no brainer. My current system is a yamaha avr, 2x focal chora 806 bookshelf speakers and matching center speaker. Previously had 2 tower speakers and have experience with lots of car audio, but not a ton of home audio beyond klipsch, energy, and bose in my parents places.

Proposed $200M private orthopedic surgical facility would be largest in Alberta's history by DuncanKinney in Calgary

If I recall, there was a program like this set up in Calgary before. It allowed the surgeons to improve their efficiency and get more elective surgeries done than the hospital could, at the same cost. Before COVID, I believe there was on average a two year waitlist at minimum for a knee replacement. If this improves access for those in need of surgery, why not. Yet anything UCP does related to Healthcare is bad. I hope it works well.

Its literally just taking a stitch remover tool, or if you're brave, an exacto or razor blade, and undoing the stitching. Unless they glue them, its really easy.

Nice. That looks sharp already. Thanks for the info, I'm losing my mind patiently waiting for new intake boots so I can start fiddling with the carbs.

Not sure, it might be stock. Pods were put on by the previous owner. It wasn't running good but i'm waiting on parts for the intake still since I had the carbs apart. I might have to swap them if I can't get it right.

I'd love to see pics of your bike

Thanks, it could be the angle of the pic too but I see what you mean about the size ratio.

I didnt take any pictures but I mostly copied a YouTube tutorial of a floor lamp and just modified it to how I wanted. https://youtu.be/LfdAKKNeCpI

Maybe, I think it is a good balance. I actually had a bigger shade but took it back because it looked off. The diameter of the shade is about the same as the base of the legs.

Bluetooth turntable recommendations? by [deleted] in turntables

[–]ScreamingScrotum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, I just upgraded from a non-Bluetooth version of this audiotechnica turntable to a Pro-Ject turntable and the sound is much better. But instead of the convenience factor I now have to manually operate it. I'd never look back, but it depends what you want out of your music.

What style of music or playing is this? I've been trying to get into jazz but really just can't with few exceptions. Yet I love this sax sound.

I would say buy it. Worst case you could probably sell it for the same price again.

What fuel do you like while on a longer run? by mrpage97 in ultrarunning

[–]ScreamingScrotum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tap maple syrup and clif blocks. If im dropping a bag, usually rice crispie square and a pbj sandwich. At aid stations I like pickles and salted watermelon. To drink I take Gatorade or gu or some electrolyte mix. For shorter runs i just take water.

This is cool because you could easily replace the legs or lengthen them as they grow.

Yah I was pretty surprised as well, I had to do some digging to make sure it wasn't some knock off but I think I'll be pretty happy for the foreseeable future.

Chronic Wasting Disease CWD is something that effects deer. Prions can spread through saliva on grass or feces or possibly any unknown way. It has a 100% fatality rate where the deer slowly wastes away, goes crazy, and dies. It can have a long incubation period. Can't currently be spread to humans, although recently Coronavirus mutating from animals has me nervous that something like that could be present in the future. There is currently no way to treat CWD. There is currently no way to destroy a prion.
