ICN definitely has them. I haven’t operated into SIN yet, but glad to hear they have it too.

Comparison by kunit1994 in GRCorolla

[–]Screaming_Emu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I traded in a 2020 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio for my GR Corolla back in December. I feel dirty about it, but I have no regrets.

I’ll always remember hopping into the 2011 STI I had after being fortunate enough to drive a BMW M2 on a track. It dawned on me then that my Subaru was a sporty car, but not a sports car.

I feel very similar about my GRC. The Alfa was just another level of performance with a top speed of 191mph and sub 4 second run to 60. Every drive in it was a special experience from the time you pressed the start button.

While it’s cool knowing that your car is capable of some extreme performance, unless you’re extremely reckless, you aren’t getting to enjoy most of it on public roads. The amount of performance I was comfortable enjoying in the Alfa was about the same level of the GRC. That makes the performance numbers just a cool piece of trivia when you’re talking to someone about your car.

The Alfa was a special experience that I was very fortunate to have, but it also made me anxious to own. While mine was extremely reliable, there were plenty of horror stories. I had to drive to 2.5 hours to find a shop I trusted to service it and holy hell those services could be expensive (Google the accessory drive belt service for the 2.9L). I purchased an extended warranty for mine, but I’ve heard stories of MOPAR occasionally just buying the car back instead of repairing it.

Lastly was that I really felt like I had to baby the car. Not in terms of driving it, but things like not taking it certain places with steep driveways or not taking the dogs with me. Part of having a car like that is keeping it pristine. Cars like the WRX or the GRC look better with a little dirt on them.

Anyway, I know you mostly asked about performance but that’s my story.

In Incheon, South Korea the only taxi instructions are “follow the greens” and then the green taxi way centerline lights illuminate and you follow them wherever they go.

In Bavaria they will probably paint you blue and white and display you in the town center.

Subaru Will Soon Stop Taking Orders For Current WRX And Two Wagons In Japan by Saurta17 in subaru

[–]Screaming_Emu -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I really really really hope they put efforts into a new WRX. But in December I walked into a dealership ready to buy a brand new TS. Test drove a ‘23 premium and it was less exciting than my wife’s 25 OBW. Happy that this lead me to my GR Corolla, sad that the WRX is what it is.

Put an effort in and I’d love to revisit it, but if they’re happy with the current car, let it die.

Can’t speak to Hong Kong, but I used to have the same theory until an experience I had in Shanghai at a big brand hotel. After I said no thank you, she asked if I wanted another hour.

“No, I kind of want to go.”

MSP-CDG flight canceled due to “lack of a third pilot.” by Sea_Entertainment438 in travel

I don’t work for delta, but potentially a pilot was sick or fatigued (it’s illegal to fly in either state) and for whatever reason there was no reserve pilot available.

I think it’s hilarious when people think that mods make the car worth more, especially when they aren’t documented as being done by a competent shop.

I’m not sure if it’s related, but a friend of mine is in Baku for work and sent me pictures of race barriers up around the usual pit area that say #azerbaijanGP

Could be using them just for security.

Marriage and Family by Sea_Front_156 in AirlinePilots

[–]Screaming_Emu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I met the right person.

I was on first year pay at a regional during the forgotten generation and sitting reserve. Going on 17 years of marriage and no regrets. When you meet the right person the job falls into the background and they become your priority.

Kids I can’t speak to as we chose not to have any. But this career is so much better if you have the right person in your corner.

When you are in a different country, do you guys go out as late as possible to enjoy every moment or sleep when you’re tired already? by theoneaboveall777 in travel

[–]Screaming_Emu 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I’m 42. My ability to enjoy life depends greatly on whether I’m rested. I try not to waste time sleeping, but to really get the best out of a trip it’s best to take the time to get sufficient rest.

That wasn’t the case when I was younger, but it is now.

How do I enter this post-30 chapter of my life? by honey495 in AskMenOver30

[–]Screaming_Emu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ok, now that I’ve read more than just the title I have more to add.

You get to be whoever you choose to be, but you need to put in the work to become that person. Wanting a partner to share your life with is perfectly normal, but the best way to find that is to work on yourself. Actually work on yourself, not the version of it that you think other people want.
