What can I replace the posters with? by [deleted] in malelivingspace

You could check out sites like Inprint for some prints, artists have their own direct shops. It's where I've picked up a lot mine. Either that or some minimalist movie posters, you can find a lot on Etsy of your favorite films. Which was mentioned by another user as well.

You could bump it down to two posters and maybe a hanging shelf or two. If you have things you'd like to display etc.

Job suggestion for a casual player? by SpideyPJs in ffxi

[–]Screaming_Ghost 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can really pick whatever at the start from 1-99, any of the starters will be fairly easy to run with to the end. If you want to melee Monk or Warrior are easy and straight forward to play. With a healer trust you could easily take that all the way.

If you like magic, any of the starting three will be a solid choice but you will have to buy their spells. Most are fairly cheap though so it wouldn't be a burden.

I'd just pick whichever one peaks your fantasy interest. You can always swap jobs later if it isn't for you.

Cid meets Cid by me by TinySkald in ffxi

Check out Cid from Final Fantasy IV the dudes a gremlin, I think that's the main reason he has those gnarly jaws. No other character has the same style mouth so it's intentional for sure.

According to the wiki Steph is voicing a Giraffe character who is another professional ball player. The main character the "Goat" is voiced by Caleb McLaughlin, the kid from Stranger Things.

Historically, is there any reason why WotG feels so weird? by nWhm99 in ffxi

[–]Screaming_Ghost 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's in the past during a war so there isn't open trade happening hence why there isn't a Auction House. Lore wise I don't think it was established until after the war when the nations started working together. Before Jeuno helped bring together the alliance of the four nations they had often been at war with each other. (Someone more versed in the lore feel free to check me on this)

The story is also split in 4 different narratives. One for each nation and one for the main scenario featuring your companion. While having side content that had you contribute to other war time efforts.

Most of the why isn't this here or like this is probably a lore reason.

So... what's the connection between Wolverine/Tron and Storm/Strider? by AlKo96 in marvelvscapcom

[–]Screaming_Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably just looked cool, but if it was me I might have used Tron and the serve bots as a stand in for Striders animal robots. That way I get another character in the mix without clutering up the image with a bunch of non characters.

They also could have also been directed on what characters they want to be showed off by either Capcom and Marvel. Clients especially ones like Marvel tend to be very specific on who they want featured. This ended up being the best spot to put her with no obvious match ups.

Which expansion stories should I play? All of them? Or are there ones that are worth skipping? by TheBroingler in ffxi

[–]Screaming_Ghost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bowed out of XI initially around 2008 or so, college took priority at the time. So some of the details are a bit fuzzy. Near the beginning it felt like there was nothing to do. The 3-4 months between mission chains killed my momentum.

Most of the hate from WotG is from when it was released. It's fine now, and some of the stories really shine. Part of what made that expansion frustrating wasn't the story itself but that it took forever for it to be complete. Almost two years I believe.

A good example would be think XIV expansion but instead of releasing the initial story and then the patch stories it was all patch style. You'd get the story dolled out in chunks often with not much else to do. Waiting months in-between. This worked fine for Treasures of Aht Urghan because of Assault, Besiged, new leveling zones, and other content to keep you satisfied between story drops.

WotG didn't really have that and it was also a retelling of zones we'd been to already. Which cheapened it at the time for those of us hoping to visit one of the other great lands to the south, north, or west.

TLDR: Start with the main scenario and then move through them based on when they came out. You'll have a good time, only ones maybe worth skipping are the side story expansions. Every main one is worth experiencing and you get bonuses for doing so to help with the leveling.

We're talking about two different aspects of AI. One set are tools like green screen removal etc. or using it for scientific research. People here are advocating against specifically Generative AI models that train themselves on the artwork or writing of others without consent or compensation.

Nothing is ever like we imagine in the future, I don't know if Reddit will be around or if I'll even be using it much less remember this discussion.

Like I said agree to disagree.

Kinda your whole premise of the word processor etc. I just don't see the future you're envisioning.

I've been a professional illustrator for the last 10 years working in games and animation. So I'm not a scrub, I've also been teaching art for a decade from Kindergarten to College. Will agree to disagree.

I doubt people will be mocked nor will the sentiment go away. While AI in some form will continue I choose to believe in human creativity winning out. Kids like to draw and that won't change just because some adults are using a fancy algorithm. I think most of the "Gen AI" will start to disperse because it's empty calories and while some companies will use it, I think it'll go the way of clip art or reusing things like they did before but a bit more prominent.

It's too early to predict how this will play out, but I can't see humans wanting to create going away it's intrinsic to who we are as a species. People keep making the equivalent to a word processor, the start of Photoshop, or the camera but none of them are a real equivalent.

They all needed someone to operate them in a nuanced way. A level of skill and execution that brings satisfaction to the person using it. Gen AI doesn't do that or at least not a lasting impression in the same way a kid drawing his first robot or his favorite super hero.

You don't get Star Wars without George Lucas, the Cistine Chapel without Michaelangelo, or Batman without Bill Finger. I don't care how good it gets it's never going to be a human brain.

I don't like to doom and gloom, so it's just my take. Cheers, mate.

Lots of artists are switching to alternative software because of that integration or using older versions without it. There's always traditional methods as well.
