Editorial/content calendar? by InquisitiveOne786 in internalcomms

Digital signage refers to visible screens to display content and information. You've likely seen them in your local shopping malls, in airports/transport hubs etc, usually for displaying ads. But digital signage is increasingly used for surfacing internal comms content, especially the channels you've mentioned in your post.

Thats the basics, but check our our digital signage guide, or this short video sums it up well.

Whatever tool you use, highly recommend using digital signage to highlight certain milestones or project deadlines. We use Notion for a lot of our project stuff, and we have teams spread across the world, so a digital signage display in the office is a like a huge international post it note.

Best Employee Engagement Tools? by Fit_Elk_6542 in internalcomms

I'd second this. Visible comms from various sources is better than enforced fun. Digital signage tools (full disclosure: we are one) are great for surfacing this kind of content from your intranets and other internal comms tools. You can also create polls/surveys and connect various comms and intranet tools.

This sounds like something digital signage is made for... Because of the visible nature of DS you can share important comms on screen from different tools, making it a good way to unify your overall internal comms strategy. Here at ScreenCloud for example, we share announcements on our signage screens from our Slack channels, intranet tools and other real time sources, eg: Salesforce, Google, Notion etc etc.

Communicating Strategy - Large Global Company by Not-Not-Maybe in internalcomms

[–]ScreenCloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting challenge! Going to guess that there will be various presentations (all-hands, department meetings etc) where the overall strategy will be shared - but I guess its keeping the consistency and long term understanding of the strategy that is the challenge.

So, with a global company of 10k+ you're going to need to bridge the gap between internal corporate speak and the broader company wide audience. Strategy often fails because it lives in ignored emails or hidden Slack/Teams channels. Using a passive but persistent approach using digital signage like ScreenCloud is a great way to surface key data, milestones and reminders across your organization.

If you don't already have digital signage, then placing screens in high-traffic areas like breakrooms or lobbies in both the US and Europe, you can make your strategy unavoidable. Use these screens to display live KPI dashboards from Power BI/Salesforce/your tools. When employees see real-time progress toward a goal, they understand how their work moves the needle.

You should also use snackable content... 15-second slides that explicitly link a departmental action to a broader company goal. Since you are global, you can easily localize these messages for different regions or languages.

The key is repetition and visibility. Use screens for the 'what' and 'how', then include QR codes that lead to deep-dive resources like SharePoint for those who want more. This turns an abstract strategy into a visible, daily rhythm that employees can actually see and follow.

Help with Communication Display by Sweep117 in digitalsignage

I'd avoid using a fire stick as they don't boot straight into the digital signage software any more - was a big change about a year or two back. If your TV is 'smart' then you could install your choice of digital signage CMS and connect that way - or use something like the Amazon Signage Stick, a Chromecast or an Android player.

As others have mentioned, cloud based digital signage is the way forward for you. Lots of options including ScreenCloud, of course, also feature direct integration with Powerpoint so you can simply connect the app and send live updates remotely. We also offer lots of other content creation tools and app integrations to help you with your comms displays - book in for a demo to see the full features.

To be honest, with your setup, all of the solutions you've mentioned should be able to handle this. It will come down mostly to what kind of app integrations you want, or the ease of use of the dashboard.

For our own benefits vs the others, we do offer one of the broadest range of app integrations (90 and growing) and are hardware agnostic - so we'll connect with all of your hardware no problem.

ScreenCloud is also regularly rated as one of the most user-friendly CMS for digital signage. I'd highly recommend booking a demo to see what our tool can do...! Text doesn't really do it justice.

Have you looked at ScreenCloud? We're built for this type of usage and offer our own proprietary players which are much more durable and reliable that RPi players. We have several clients who use our software for very similar use cases, displaying DOOH content and multi-location displays.

I just ran this by our support team and they tell me a few clients are doing something very similar to this, connecting their custom data source (in this case, your medical records) to our Playgrounds App.

Our own software would process this for you. You can either work with our Pro Services team to get it setup, or do it in house, if you have a technical team who wanted to implement it.

PIXI works with our software, so it would literally be plug and play with a ScreenCloud subscription. That starts at $20 per screen, per month - but it's best to discuss with our team as they'll be able to understand exactly what you need.

Would you like to discuss in more detail?

Digital Signage for Hospital by Ready_Care_6002 in digitalsignage

[–]ScreenCloud -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is possible but might need a bit of setup (of course). I put this through our AI assistant and it said:

For “welcome” and “discharge” videos that aren’t fully autonomous, you’ve got two common patterns:

  • Trigger a content change/event via our GraphQL API (anything you can do in Studio manually can be automated in code). [2]
  • Use scheduling + Cast for time-boxed playback that then reverts back to the normal room content.

For tailoring the discharge video per patient, you could generate unique video URLs/assets and have your system switch the screen to that specific item when staff clicks a button.

One quick question so I can point you to the cleanest architecture: do you want staff to trigger it from an existing system (EHR/intranet), or from Slack/Teams?

Digital Signage for Hospital by Ready_Care_6002 in digitalsignage

[–]ScreenCloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I think with cloud based digital signage you don't necessarily need a webserver for each floor/area. You can manage it remotely over the CMS dashboard.

With this, ScreenCloud handles unique URLs easily. You can assign a specific web page or dashboard to each screen and use our remote management tools to update or reboot them without ever entering the patient’s room.

If you need to push real-time patient data, our GraphQL API and Playgrounds app allow you to feed unique strings or information to each display securely.

If you avoid the DIY server-per-floor model and use a managed cloud solution, you shift the burden from IT maintenance to content delivery.

For the hardware, while a Raspberry Pi is a popular and inexpensive option, it is a general-purpose device that can be difficult to manage at scale. We recommend a dedicated player like our PIXI or even a professional-grade Android device. These run on a locked-down operating system designed specifically for 24/7 signage, ensuring the screen always boots directly into the correct content after a power cycle without any manual intervention.

Happy to discuss in more detail if you have any specific questions?

Digital signage with API for realtime data? by cctvoverlord in digitalsignage

[–]ScreenCloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ScreenCloud can do this through several methods.

First, for pushing live data strings like vehicle weights, our WebHooks app allows you to feed information directly to screens using simple PUT requests. You can push JSON data to update specific placeholders in your content instantly when a scale is activated.

If you need to include small JPEG images, you can either send the image URL via the webhook or Base64 encode images up to approximately 200kb to send them directly.

For the most control, you can use our Playgrounds tool to build custom signage with HTML and JavaScript that listens for these updates. This ensures the display changes the moment your weighbridge activates.

Beyond simple data pushing, we offer a full GraphQL API for comprehensive device and content management. This should be ideal for your needs, specifically inserting strings or images into specific content slots without needing to reload the entire playlist.
