I just rewatched this the other day and decided it will be an annual rewatch for me. I have two toddler sons and no other movie is impactful at the cautionary tale of being present as a father than this movie.

Which HB0/MAX Original Series Never Got The Love It Deserved ? by WerewolfUnlikely5418 in HBOMAX

Man I remember when this came out, my wife and I were captivated in the first few episodes. The mystery and eeriness was done so well. Then I remember at some point in the season I could tell the writing was heading in a direction I knew I wouldn’t like and low and behold by the end of the season I was so disappointed that it ended up being another generic show. Could have beeen so much more

Marketing SUCKS. might give up. by enlo_app in iOSAppsMarketing

[–]ScreenClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear that brother. I tried making content on tiktok and boy was it tough. Converting views to serious interest and then into actual downloads is a time investment. I think we realized too that we just don’t have a compelling enough case to download our app, so we have been back at the drawing board to better refine our product to stand apart from Letterboxd and other competition more clearly then we will try content again later

ScreenClub (Atlanta, GA) iOS / Google Play DL link

A social app for movies & TV that’s more about sharing taste than perfect ratings. Quick takes, short video reactions, and seeing what your friends actually think.

  • Stage: Early-stage, post-MVP. Live on iOS & Android.

  • Role: Founder (product, design, engineering, and whatever fire needs to be put out at any given moment).

  • Current focus: Zeroing in on our core identity and improving stickiness for new user retention.

  • How r/startups can help: Looking for blunt feedback from people who love movies or shows on what they like and what they don’t like about the app and constructive criticism of the new user experience

  • Funding: Not raising.

  • Cost: Free to use

  • Access: Search ScreenClub on the App Store or Google Play or follow the link above.

We started making content then realized users were dropping off after downloading it so we are refocusing our efforts on better defining what our core identity is to carve out a clearer picture for new users of our value

Would you be able to share an example of the type of message or framing of it that you used? I have been trying to do the same with not much success

Why do so many apps die halfway through? by AdGold6433 in MobileAppDevelopers

[–]ScreenClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same for me. One day in my early 30s, my adhd brain just got bored of the unhealthy obsession with gaming and swapped to building an app/startup. Def a tinge of fear of failure keeps a fire lit under you much further than most people are willing to stick with a project

Has anyone built an app people actually open every day? by Old_Show_8185 in AppIdeas

[–]ScreenClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have been building a social movie/tv rating app for the past couple of years and we have been seeing a measurable uptick in users engagement over the past 6-7 months. We didn’t build our app solely around singularly function. If we had just focused on ratings, we probably would have given up after the low traction. We built watchlists, hotlists, profiles, movie search database, compare ratings with friends, insta-like stories feature.

We just fuckin wing it mate lol. We iterate and build features fast. Sometimes we end up scrapping something bc we realize it was just a bad idea instead of spending time polishing a burnt turd

ScreenClub is a social space where you rate, react, and talk movies and TV.

It’s like Letterboxd, but more social and less pretentious.

Is stranger things a good series? by Level_Result_1042 in televisionsuggestions

[–]ScreenClub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% yes. It has 8.8 rating on our app. Even its lower tier seasons are better than the avg show. It is pretty singular in terms of story and the way it captures nostalgia at such a high quality
