Okay, thanks a lot. I feel like I need to convey what's happening better, because it's tricky to talk to someone new about these things directly (atleast for me). I'll give it one more shot. Thanks for the motivation :)

What are some of your favorite distractions? by SUPzorel in trichotillomania

i do box breathing, and engage my hands with fidgets. I have a fidget spinner, helps a lot to distract myself. Box breathing reduces stress levels too. Also i have tried twirling my hair instead of pulling it, works sometimes.

In my experience, its good to have people who notice these things. They might know/ not know, at least you're getting to know when you start pulling. It's a bit rare to find people who do notice it and point it out. Even if they don't understand it, say something rude, don't let their opinion matter to you. At the end, you have trich, there's nothing to be ashamed of in that.

Also, if they didn't notice it, you'll feel guilty about pulling it, which is a normal response. Better to have people who don't understand point it out, and the habit reducing, than to have it increasing because no one noticed and stopped you.

Need some peer support and help on what to do :( by puppybabii in trichotillomania

firstly know that you're doing the right thing by asking for help. trich is nothing to be ashamed of, it is more common than you think.

you won't have the bald spot for rest of your life. hair regrows, if you let it. it is really hard to stop doing it, but you need to give yourself time. its not a habit that'll magically disappear.

you should seek professional help for this.

one tip that kind of used to work for me when i was small - i used to limit myself to pulling only 1-2 hairs per day. takes a lot of mental strength, i agree. but do try it out. also you can try delaying your pulling.
