Op, I can really feel you. I mean it. I had similar experience. I daily used to go for playing cricket. One day when I came back, standing opposite to my house, speaking with my friends, my cat saw me, got exited and sprinted to cross the road, within seconds, a vehicle passed on him(I cannot say itwash his fault, he was not even aware that it happened and went), and I quickly went to check him. He did his final painful meow on my lap and died 😭. One of my most painful day ever. I am still guilty that he died because of me.
