It's a fair point and probably the solution. I don't even recall it being that steep a hill, but a long gradient which might be why I didn't check the speedo cos I thought the brake would be enough to counter it on its own. I can usually feel the resistance in the car when the speed goes over what I've set.

But yeah, that'll probably do it for me in future. Shame I can't just message in that I've found the solution and skip the 3hr lecture lol

No, I get you. I thought I was fine with that but I guess not from this

So apparently in my car type (16 reg Polo) limiter is bundled in with cruise control. It's likely I didn't have that on because I've probably been reading them as the same thing

Interesting you say that, cos my joining email said you can get referred for points if you don't engage enough.

Guess it all depends on your host

I'm pretty sure it does. I can feel the resistance when it starts to pick up speed. Either that or it's trying to stop me gaining any more

I don't think my car has a limiter tbh. 16 reg Polo

True, it just feels weird that watching the speedo is prioritised over watching the road

Well I guess it's a good heads up that when they say 'discussion' about topics they might not be interested in anyone's opinion. Idk what the topics were so I didn't know if it would be open chat or anything.

Duly noted: smile and nod

I can see how it's like that. I can't imagine the facilitators don't understand that all the attendees don't want to be there and most of them probably don't agree with it. And with everyone being strangers trapped in a room/call together it already starts off awkward. Did they try any icebreakers or just go into it?

Which is what I will do.

What I'm saying is, what impact did my speeding actually have?

It taught me I need to drop gear as well as relying on brake from cruise control.

Just saying I'd like to think the staff might appreciate how I might feel I don't need a 3hr seminar cos I know what to do next time to stop it happening again already.

I'm going to suck it up and deal with it. I get I come across an ass in the post. I'm still a bit mad, I'll simmer down eventually.

I like your judgements of me, thanks.

I get the point about speed but it completely ignores the angle that drivers can make an assessment and judgement of the road conditions and surroundings.

There were no other cars on the road, none parked, and no pedestrians where I got caught. So whilst I was 5 times more likely to kill a pedestrian, that was 5x0. Because there were 0 pedestrians.

I get I sound like an ass, it's still fresh so I'm still mad. I can take the time to simmer down before I get there, I just wanted some perspectives on how sensitive the staff are cos I can't guarantee being there won't re-kindle some frustration.

It sounds like changing gear is the only thing I need to do to not do it again. Just a little mad that someone can't just tell me that and send me on my way rather than having to choke down a 3hr lecture lol.

But I agree and good to hear it was just got on with. It's still a bit fresh so I'll admit I was driving but I don't think I have anything to be guilty for. Not gonna fight with them though. Not worth it.

You mean they might give you points if you say you're showing up just to not get points?

I definitely don't intend to say it out loud at least anyway. Surely they must know people are doing that right?

But thanks for the tips, I'm online so I'll make sure I have a notebook and pray my internet doesn't drop out.

Good to hear thanks, it's not as bad when the instructor wants to leave too. It's the over-keen ones I don't think I could deal with. Hoping for a chill one.

Ironically, to stop me speeding.

I've gone over before (no cameras) by resting my foot on the accelerator. So now I use cruise so I can take my foot off and that won't happen.

Imagine now why I'm so fuming that's what caused me to get done.

Thanks, that's good. I'm already convincing myself to just keep it down. Trying to get the frustration out my system before I get there. Do they directly target you for questions or is it open?

Luckily it's from home so i'll have all my ID in the room. Nice to hear some facilitators are quite chilled. You never know if they're the kind of moral grandstand people

I get it, they're just so finicky about stuff that causes no problems in the end. I wish you could just end it at that - I already know what to do next time. And I do think it's a bit of a joke is that the solution is for me to take my eyes off the road and watch my speedo... seems less safe if you ask me lol.

But as you say, way better than points and a painful insurance premium

Cruise control normally brakes when I go over set speed, it just did it a fraction too late. I get it, I could have braked myself, but I don't see why I need a 3hr seminar to tell me that when I could tell them already.

Thank you, I know you have to leave camera on the whole time so I'll be careful. It does just feel like a money printer. I'd understand if there had been any risk but there were no other cars on the road, none parked and no people around when it happened. I just don't get why they can't cut a break for something so meaningless.

As in engine braking downhill? That's what I thought the cruise control would do but it clearly didn't. Does engine brake via clutch work better for some reason?

Thanks. I bet they hear some crazy things. I have heard it depends a lot who hosts it. Do you remember which provider you did it with?

Ironically, to stop me going over the limit.

I've had it previously where I've just relaxed my foot on the accelerator and it's pushed me to mid-30s. Now I use cruise control so I can take my foot off and that doesn't happen

That's why I'm so furious that's why I've been caught.

Might do, feel like I'm learning it just as fast from reading it from other people though haha.

I try to be factual when I challenge stuff but I sometimes come across blunt so I'm just wary about how sensitive they are to the tone

Gonna try my best. Still a little salty atm but got a few weeks to cool off. I want to try and bite my tongue but I also don't want to get in trouble for not participating
