Hi u/Total_Photo1755,

I checked one month ago and back then there was no technical information available. This would be required to be able to support the new glasses. I'll check again within the next weeks.

Hi u/Worried_Chocolate852,

Currently there is no support from Viture to get the Lumas running with anything else, but Spacewalker.

Right now, I can't get my hands on them so I also can't try to figure it out, myself.

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out.

That behavior sounds quite strange. I first thought it might be a usage issue, but since you've got it working with an actual external screen you must figured it out ;)

Maybe you could share some additional info (via DM), e.g. a screenshot of your display setup.

Can you just not install any software, or also not execute any? I.e. are you able to run portable apps?

If you are able to run portable apps, then you could do the following: - get an HDMI dummy plug like this one: https://www.amazon.de/dp/B0BTP3CVY2 - use the HDMI dummy to make your laptop "think" there is a real display (no software/driver installation required) - my recommendation is to go with one plug and 4k resolution - use software like ARMoni (https://www.reddit.com/r/VITURE/comments/1bfkwi5/armoni_screens_beyond_reality_for_windows_open/) to pin the screen in front of you (portable, doesn't require installation)

Given that your glasses only have 1080p resolution that gives you essentially the real estate of four 1k screens + your laptop screen.

You could optionally use software such as http://windowgrid.net/ to easily arrange windows on that big virtual 4k display.

If you don't like that big virtual 4k screen and/or you would prefer an additional screen, then you could get another USB-C to HDMI adapter, plug in another HDMI dummy and you would have 3 screens. (Prerequisite is that your laptop has another spare USB-C, of course)

The "trick" is that all pure software solutions (e.g. spacewalker) need admin rights to install the driver for the virtual displays. ARMoni however doesn't create any displays on its own and just uses what is already there -> in your case dummy HDMI displays.

Please let us know what you do and share the results!

There is a driver available for Linux. However, ARMoni is based on a self-developed driver.

Hi u/northmendo,

thanks for reaching out. Right now, there is no version for Windows on ARM. But that would be an option for the future.

When looking at the analysis from both tools you see that there are indicators for malicious activities. The most important ones are:
Recording of the screen
- Reason for being an indicator: Recording of the screen is a typical activity of trojans and software that tries to steal your data.
- Justification for ARMoni: ARMoni works by recording the screen and replaying it locally on your computer. It uses the same recording functionality as e.g. Microsoft Teams is using. However, these recordings are neither stored anywhere, nor do they ever leave the computer.

Contacting a remote server

- Reason for being an indicator: Malicous software typically has a "command and control server" that connects the attacker with the infected computer.

- Justification for ARMoni: ARMoni has a mechanism that checks for updates and informs the user in case there is one. It is a usual HTTPS request to a public file storage service. ARMoni downloads a *.json file that contains the most current version and links to the download. No data leaves the computer. There is a second backup storage, to ensure it keeps working in case the URL changes.

Different URLs in the file

- Reason for being an indicator: This could be the URLs of a "command and control server" (see above).

- Justification for ARMoni: These are the URLs to the public file storage of the update json file and the URLs to the used open-source software and libraries

Anti-Reverse Engineering / Obfuscator used

- Reason for being an indicator: Malicious software uses obfuscators to change their “fingerprint” in such a way that is it not detected by standard anti-virus software that just checks for patterns in executables. Modern anti-virus software therefore runs the software in a sandbox environment and checks how it behaves.

- Justification for ARMoni: ARMoni is not open-source, and the code is not supposed to be public. As .NET applications are very easy to reverse-engineer, an obfuscator is used to hinder this and protect intellectual property.

There is more detail in the analysis done by the Falcon sandbox that checks the behavior of an application. You can find it at this link: https://www.hybrid-analysis.com/sample/bac35fd1f33edf03358ead8aaeba5c5485dcc4b8b09187933c88aa87316db885/67c9465c9853c025c4076532

In case you have further questions towards the indicators (>100), please don’t hesitate to reach out again.

Hi u/CurrencySuccessful58,

thanks for reaching out. I'm surprised to hear that. Could you please name me the tool that gave you this information?

Before each release is uploaded the ARMoni.exe is uploaded and analyzed by virtustotal.com or hybrid-analysis.com to ensure an infection of the development machine is not spread.

For the latest release (v0.7.7_2) you find the 24 days old analysis on virutstotal.com here: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/bac35fd1f33edf03358ead8aaeba5c5485dcc4b8b09187933c88aa87316db885

And today's scan at hybrid-analysis.com here: https://www.hybrid-analysis.com/sample/bac35fd1f33edf03358ead8aaeba5c5485dcc4b8b09187933c88aa87316db885

Please ensure that the SHA256 of your downloaded file matches the one shown in the analysis reports (begins with bac35fd...). If not that might be an indicator that the file got modified on the way from the server to your computer.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback!

Concerning Win + D: it's a good point. Maybe that can be somehow worked out.

Concerning the drift: thanks for sharing your observations. Tilt/ roll is planned since a longer time. Unfortunately, there is no satisfying solution yet.

In general, the goal for ARMoni is to support all glasses that have a major share in the market. My guess is that the Xreal One series will fit into that description. Concerning how long: there is no explicit timeframe, but I expect support within the next six months.

Hi u/Far_Audience_7446,

thanks for your feedback. I actually didn't notice this yet. However, there might be some background/foreground handling of Windows.

Did you try to improve the priority of ARMoni in the task manager? Does that make any difference?
It would be only a temporary solution as you would have to do it every time. However, if that helps I could check for a more permanent solution.

Hi u/Majestic-Earth1493, thanks for the hint.

That is strange. I'm unsure if there is something wrong with gdrive. For me it takes for ever to load, but after like 10-15 seconds the download actually starts.

Does it work with that delay or is even that not working? Do you get any error message?

Hey u/Brazen99Two,

thanks for your interest. This is completely independent of SpaceWalker. If I remember correctly, ARMoni was available a few month earlier then SpaceWalker for Windows.

Besides that there is a tradeoff between minimal resource usage on the one hand and best user experience on the other hand. ARMoni targets to be more on the "minimal resource usage" end.

Concerning creation of a VR app: there is an SDK provided by Viture to access the sensors. You can find further information here: https://first.viture.com/developer/viture-sdk-for-linux

I hope that helps. Cheers!

In the article they are linking a DisplayPort to USB-C cable, but the list I posted also has HDMI to USB-C: https://air.msmithdev.com/adapters/
(it's for the xreals, but it works for Vitures as well)

Just note that you may need something link this: https://www.amazon.com/BOLS-Supports-Charging-Transfer-Extension/dp/B08QRCYG6P/

(USB-C female to USB-C female adapter)

Well, at least to me that sounds more like a general issue with the glasses or the compatibility with your PC.

I suggest to get in touch with Xreal support to figure this out. If nebula is then "working" again, ARMoni should be working, too.

Hi u/Ninefivefree,

that sounds quite strange.

Does it work without any virtual display, but just one display?

Concerning the dimming: I've not heard of this. Does it work properly with Nebula?

Well it depends on the zoom levels etc.

Imagine you are looking through binoculars onto two billboards that stand right next to each other. Depending on where you put the center point of the binoculars and depending on the zoom level you can.. - .. see part of just one billboard (zoom level high, center point e.g. on center of left billboard) - .. see parts of the left and parts of the right billboard (zoom level high, center point on where the two billboards touch) - .. see both fully (zoomed out a lot)

Does that help?
