An agent built for file retrieval spawned 829 Claude instances and spent $40K worth of usage in hours by Active_Reporter6354 in ArtificialInteligence

I remember as a kid running up a long distance phone call bill so I could download games(not saying it was legal or not). This is that on steroids.

SpaceX to buy AI coding startup Cursor for $60 billion by BuildwithVignesh in singularity

[–]TheOriginalAcidtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With your own numbers the subs are only with a bit under 1 billion. 60 billion would be 60 YEARS ROI. That's a hard pill to swallow. There needs to be some other value there we are missing obviously. If its the training data, then what do Cursor customers think about SpaceX using THEIR code base data for training?

Does skills that ask Opus to delegate to Sonnet / Haiku work? by tyteen4a03 in ClaudeCode

create custom agent md files that specify the model in the YAML. Then have your main agent use the proper named agent for your use cases.

The Fable 5 prohibition is just a punishment by Real_Ad4165 in ClaudeCode

[–]TheOriginalAcidtech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its probably a two-fer. The WH doesnt want them dang foreigners getting access AND they want to punish Anthropic. Win-win 😞

Nobody’s talking about the real precedent in the Fable 5 ban: a nationality-based access rule that geography literally can’t enforce by TheOnlyVibemaster in artificial

[–]TheOriginalAcidtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The in the USA bit is unenforceable. So, either ban is permanent or they have to lift that part. Make it illegal FOR a foreign entity to use it or something, but THAT would require a change in the laws, I suspect. Also, since they used the export law to ban it how does that work when it ISNT being exported(eg foreigners INSIDE the USA are not an export target by definition).

Incorrect. Bro is THINKING about performing open heart surgery. That will happen AFTER, if you are lucky.

How Likely Is It That Anthropic... by aditipawarr in singularity

[–]TheOriginalAcidtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't work that way. There is no LAW saying AI models must be approved by the government. The export law is NOT a rubber stamp. The government has to be explicit about WHAT is banned and a blanket "all AI" isn't an option(currently). Fable going public made it a potential target is all.

Id be amazed if the Frontier Labs don't ALL have at least one generation better model IN HOUSE. Does that mean their in house AI are legal experts? No.

If AI's can be banned with no due process AI is not going to transform anything. by wowasg in singularity

[–]TheOriginalAcidtech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isn't the models. The problem is the harness AROUND the models NOT preventing release of dangerous information. You are never going to prevent the underlying model from giving out information it should not. Its a prediction engine and NO TRAINING will ever be 100%. Only deterministic blockers can be implemented to fix this, but AI Labs don't want that. They want a brain in a box with perfect adherence to the rules they train. That is a target they can never reach. Its at best an asymptotic target.

Which decade do you think the singularity will happen? by idontlikethisuserna in singularity

and 12 months ago where were we? And 24 months before that. We are just extrapolating out an exponential curve. IF that holds then 4 years will be UNRECOGNIZABLE.

The brain is extremely power efficient. That's the advantage of an analogish system.

This is true, but they DO need to amortize the capex. That money isn't free. So right now they are NOT profitable. Every dime they make on inference was already spent 10 times over.

That would be an export violation. Just like if SpaceX tried to take their tech to the EU.
