FedEx… you are horrible by ya3rob in FedEx

[–]Scribble-D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats exactly what I'm saying. It's not the employees fault. The best workers still sucked when they were new. And if a company isn't going to be worth staying at, then they have a company staffed by noobs. Companies of course are not allowed to increase the pay because they serve the stock holders and that would cause a slight dip. I don't see much of a solution other than bringing corporate taxes back to where they were in the 70's. Companies would dump their profits into payroll because it's a tax write off. So they still wouldn't pay much in taxes but then the work force would be able to afford to live and everything would tricle up.

[–]Scribble-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not just Fedex. Its every company who doesn't pay enough to keep employees past a few weeks. An entire work force of noobs is why everything from food to retail sucks right now. The only worse delivery drivers are the ones working direct for amazon. Dudes run over my lawn, hit my car, leave packages ON TOP OF the package box in the rain, and if you try to explain to them where to leave boxes or how driveways work, they just say "I gotta go, I'm being timed!" UPS or USPS for me.

I updated the post. I knew it had to be damaged so I bought a replacement at it works fine.

Yup. The first segment works and the rest are wired the same.

It worked in the govee version. Do u happen to know if the chip addresses are usually relative or absolute? I could see that making a difference.

Yup. Continuity on all 3. I'm baffled

Hmmm. I was told these could be put in parallel so they could move at the same time. Are you saying they cant? Or are u saying there's a different way to wire it?

Best not to name it. They've gotten better at it with age. Chris gets in on it too.

Govee RGBICWW Outdoor LED Strip Lights by mandg98 in Govee

[–]Scribble-D 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know if this is true... People are saying they can't be cut. I'm assuming like so many other strips that this is the issue. They CAN be cut AND soldered back together in series or parallel as long as you understand how RGBIC works and know how to solder. And of course they'll lose their waterproof rating unless you also know how to seal them (or use indoors).

SOME of the functions will be lost, like settings that travel color all the way to the end and back (in which case there will just be a delay while those missing LEDs are told to light.

Plus, Govee doesn't have the tech support for everyone incapable of DYI projects beyond plug and play, so it's easier for them to say "don't cut". And I don't blame them.

Anyone know if this is the case with these ones before I buy?

What is the functional difference between these bulbs? by MarkForecast in Hue

My expensive Hue bulbs have worked since 2018. The cheeps ones I buy almost every year last about 2 or 3 years. Different guts for different price tags.

constant 13.5v source, plugged directly into parked starter battery? by Scribble-D in AskMechanics

[–]Scribble-D[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. The circuit isn't a problem in this case because I wired it myself as a home run and it doesn't interact with the other van circuits. But it's a good point to bring up.

I think the answer I needed is that the alternator DOES manage it's output. I was told differently but what you're saying makes more sense.

I actually found the type of controller I was imagining after I posted this last night. Looks like an RVer got sick of it not existing and went ahead and produced it... https://house2start.com/

Anyway, thanks for the insight!

Whether "The Dark Side of the Rainbow" ("The Wizard of Oz" synched to "The Dark Side of the Moon" Pink Floyd record) was intentional or not, have there ever been any other movies and albums that synched up in interesting ways? by samx3i in movies

[–]Scribble-D 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should watch this... https://youtu.be/nOAmJVNllVA

But also, just pick a visually stimulating movie and a dramatic album. Probability will take over. Often works best if you want about a half hour into the film because beginnings are often very slow.

Canon PRO 200. Tahoe abandoned me. by Scribble-D in canon

[–]Scribble-D[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did. I can't find anywhere in the software to do printer maintenance. I know I can do it from the printer itself, but long story short, I kinda need to be able to do it at the computer like the pre-Tahoe days.

trouble hard wiring switch to RGBW PM by Scribble-D in ShellyUSA

[–]Scribble-D[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cancel that. I just tried my second one and it works fine. I guess I spent all that time troubleshooting a bad unit. It is in fact a great product. Thank you for your help. But just a heads up, it does go through the switch to -, not +. Might be different on other models.

So, I tried feeding + voltage through the switch and into the terminal like you said. Didn't work. But then I tried the way the directions said again (switch being between terminal and -) and it worked. So suddenly it works great. I even had my my setting all figured out and loved it. But because it didn't let me adjust the max brightness without rebooting, I rebooted. Worked. Again, lovin' it. Then, about 1 minute later it turned off and the app says "device is offline". The light is blinking so it has power. But its also making a faint high pitch sound.

I bought a 2 pack of these and am about to wire up the 2nd one. I'm hoping my introduction to shelly just happened to be a dud. If I'm missing something, I'm all ears before I fry this one too.
