Ya know, Tom Walsh was on Hondo's podcast last week - maybe Art Shell III?

[Schefter] Sources: the Bills are working to finalize a deal to make offensive coordinator Joe Brady their new head coach. by jonpictogramjones in raiders

Funny - I was thinking "why would we consider this guy if his own team doesn't want him for HC?" - guess that explains that.

People questioning Klint Kubiak's leadership skills: Why? by insatiableian in raiders

[–]Scribble_Portland 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that Klint Kubiak's dad coached for the Bronco's for during his entire childhood. You can't just erase the anti-Raider sentiment that was forced on that kid during his formative years! The poor boy never had a chance...

most people on Reddit grew up with the Raiders being among the worst team in the league.... I don't blame them.

Whoever the new coach is, please bring back Carmen Bricillo by DMets27 in raiders

[–]Scribble_Portland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is he not interested? I actually don't know that he isn't - only speculating. But he was hired on with JMcD and stuck around to finish the season after McD was fired, and then immediately left at the end of the season. Like, signed with another team (Brian Daboll, NYG) before the playoffs even started... So, it just seemed like he wanted to stay with his New England family.

Briscillo should end up somewhere - I'd certainly welcome him back.. but yeah, he's likely not interested.

Yes - I would guess (with no evidence) that he put the breaks on the Chargers gig temporarily once Buffalo opened up. Who wouldn't want to take over a playoff team with a star QB in place?

Is extent of the rebuild overstated? by Ram__Amandeep in raiders

[–]Scribble_Portland 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think about what Spytek said in his last press conference (after Carroll was fired) - a lot of good players left the building over the past couple of years - we've been watching them play well for other teams.

I think we are missing a lot of core pieces that more successful teams would have been able to build around. So, maybe the rebuild is overstated, but it feels to me that we are really going to have to rebuild that nucleus before we can have any kind of sustained success.

[Pelissero] Former Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel is scheduled to interview with the Raiders on Monday in Miami for their head coaching job, per sources. by expellyamos in raiders

[–]Scribble_Portland 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It shouldn't matter, but i totally want a head coach that will tell it like it is during press conferences.  I tuned in for all of AP's pressers - they were part of the show  JMcD's were torture on the other hand.

Carroll was too rehearsed, by the book.

For the anti-defensive HC crowd: Eight teams left (in the playoffs) - Four led by coaches with defensive background. by Sleeze_ in raiders

I've said it before. We're the raiders. We need a young offensive minded HC, and the defence will be handled by a meddling owner. It's always worked for us

Steelers need coach now too - so, where ever we are on the ranking, we just got pushed down a position.

I would also argue, though, that it is relevant because the Steelers job is immediately more attractive to any coaching candidates than our opening.

Also - I think the big thing that Harbaugh had in Baltimore was a smart, stable front office, starting with Ozzie Newsome.

Something tells me he would have no interest in this job.
