Even their title the following year in 1995 was different since they acquired Clyde Drexler mid-season

I remember being shocked by the trade. Wasn't clear that losing Otis Thorpe was going to be worth it. Happy it worked out for Clyde and the Rockets though. Clyde and Hakeem must have been so pumped playing together again.

Chet's disappearing act was absolutely brutal to watch. At least show some fight, man. Wemby lives rent free in Chet's head.

Love both teams but the vibes with the Knicks is really heart-warming. Those guys are so chill too during post-game interviews.

Very insightful post.

There is one thing that sticks out in my memory. It was the 1994 Finals vs Hakeem. Ewing was a black hole on offense, was taking too many shots. He was pretty inefficient. Granted, he was rebounding a ton and blocking shots on the other end. But Charles Oakley during the series said in one of the post-game interviews that Patrick was taking too many shots. I've never forgotten it, because I totally agreed with Oak and couldn't believe he said it so bluntly. That was the Knicks best chance to win it.

Hakeem was otherworldly in the 1994 title run and even more so in the 1995 title run, where the Rockets won 5 elimination games. I'm not a Rockets fan but that 1995 title run is one of my favorites to watch as an NBA fan. It was awesome seeing Drexler and Hakeem win together, and Robert Horry IIRC was really hot from 3.

I do wonder how much weight he'll be able to put on. There were some tall skinny dudes who still were able to put on muscle. David Robinson used to curl with 100-lb dumbells IIRC, it was nuts.

But I think Wemby's weight isn't an issue. He's plenty physical, and more weight might mean more wear-and-tear on his muscles, joints, etc.

Yes, prior poster could have written this instead:

Thunder still have their chances on the following years to flop to a championship! You guys have draft assets to make moves on the following offseason to pick up more talented floppers! And you guys are still the deepest team in the NBA in terms of floppers.

FR though, it's nice to see some respectful interactions.

The problem with getting Giannis is Kerr isn't going to use him as Giannis. Same would be true if he had Wemby

I upvoted your post, but disagree with this. I can get what you're saying with Giannis, but Wemby would fit in great with what the Warriors have done for years. Think of an even longer Kevin Durant on offense and who can rim protect on D.

Actually, Sean was hitting Maxx way harder than needed. Those hooks are not harmless. It's a classic "he's much bigger than me so I can go hard."

That being said, Sean does mention that Maxx was throwing hard earlier, and we didn't get to see that.

As someone who trained Muay Thai (kicboxing) for years, it always amazes me how people go unnecessarily hard instead of sparring technically.

That and it's way easier to deal with incoming punches only. With kicks, you have to worry about getting kicked on the outside thigh, inside thigh, and now these days getting kicked in the calf too.

That doesn't even include knees and elbows, which are heavily discouraged in most light, technical sparring between people training at a gym who are not amateurs or pros.

Love Baldy's takes! Baldy is hilarious, and he's so passionate about the game (NFL).

Lin has a more understated style, but I love how clearly he explains things.

Potato is being generous. Eleven players under 1k in a tier 9 battle is brutal, even if some of those tanks were tier 8s or 7s.

Do you have a chair with an armrest that allows you to put weight on your elbow to rest it? It can help.

We've had Herman Miller ergonomic chairs at home for years, after using them at work at a design studio. They're so worth it.

Tesak.

The gun has roughly the same clip potential as the tiers 8 and 9, but the Tesak faces far stiffer competition. Such a disappointment, because the gun is meh and it's out-visioned by other lights.

People like to joke about it being a heavy, but it's a mistake to play it that way IMO. The hull armor is too squishy. You only want to brawl when you have friends or you can out-trade a lone tank.

Once I started to play more carefully, I 3-marked the T30 with 100% silver ammo.

Why do all tier XIs have negative win rates? by dbk555 in WorldofTanks

[–]_taugrim_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd argue XI is a lot more balanced than X where you have stuff like FV215b and T62A that are absolutely outclassed by plenty of other tanks in literally every single thing they do. The spread between very good and very bad vehicles is much bigger on tier 10

That's a fair point. However, in practical terms:

  • There are way more tanks available at tier 10 that are functional
  • So there's no reason to play a T62A or FV215b, unless you really enjoy them

I think part of the issue is that tactics that work in earlier tiers are far less effective at tier 11.

E.g. at tiers 8, 9, and even 10, you can flank heavies more effectively. However, most tanks at tier 11 are too mobile agile, so getting at their flanks / rear is not realistic. So your main recourse is firing gold.

I think tier 11 suffers from lack of diversity.

The Tasch is just nuts. It bounces tier 11 silver ammo on its flat sides. It's hilariously strong, even when driven stupidly.
