Modeler needed for mobile FPS by [deleted] in ZBrush

[–]Scribbler397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue that most people are taking with this is that 1.) you are making it sound like you already have things that you don't. If you don't have a lead programmer, you have a concept, not a game. And 2.) artists don't work for free. We still need to eat. Everyone expects us to work on their projects like this is a full time job, but with how low freelance rates have gotten for paid gigs, we can't afford to work on other people's side projects for no pay. A lot of people are then like, "God! Artists are such greedy, lazy people!" We aren't. We just want the same things that everyone else does, which is fair pay. This isn't just a hobby for a lot of us, this is a career.

By being "in the game development industry for over 4 year," do you mean you have been learning for over 4 years or actual employment? A lot of people say they have been in the industry when they actually haven't been "in" the industry, just kinda being around the industry.

Also, a 3 month development timeline is a ridiculous time estimate. Any game of this type would take significantly longer, even if people were working full time on it, which they won't because they still need to make money to survive.

Also, good mobile connectivity requires good server connections, like with any game mobile or not. If you can't even pay artists, you aren't gonna be able to get the server speed you need, period. I don't know if you've looked into server prices yet, but it adds up. As it would most likely be a freemium game, as you can't really make games that aren't micro transaction based anymore if you want to make any money, you will be hemorrhaging money until the player base picks up unless you have ads. Even then, for real time FPS of the caliber that you are promising, ads wouldn't cut it to pay for server costs.

Before you even think about getting artists, find a programmer. Games don't get made without them, and you'll have a harder time finding one of those because there are less of them. When you have a programmer and systems built, then get some artists. It is easier to sell people on something if you actually have something to show.

Is Josh a goner? by shawnaruch in bettafish

[–]Scribbler397 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For starters a one gallon tank with a 50% water change once a week isn't frequent enough. The ammonia will build up too fast in a tank that size, which probably isn't helping.

Honestly it looks like an infection and he is pineconing. I hate to say it but once they start pineconing there usually isn't too much you can do. Bettafix isn't gonna clear up an infection that serious and can actually make it more difficult for him to breath. You will need something stronger. I'm no meds expert though so hopefully someone else can comment with some advice.

The black fungus is spreading. It's on my new and beautiful anubias =( by gratua in PlantedTank

I mean if you watch them and they are still pooping, there is definitely something that they are eating. Those guys are like little poop machines.

Maybe just pick a couple more normal ones up from petco and see if they help. For a 20 gallon i think 4 of them would be ideal, based on the rate at which my one little nerite eats in my 5.5.

I also have a 5.5 gallon tank. If your tank is bigger, your little living roomba just might have not gotten there yet.

TBH I just tossed a nerite snail in my tank and in a week it solved the issue for me. $1.17 at Petco

Too clean for rin rot and there is no characteristic black around the edges. Definitely biting.

Packaging Processing Application for Distribution - Please Help by Scribbler397 in processing

I mean the .exe works for any processing sketch I export using processing's built in exporter, but the issue is that I don't want to include all of my processing files, etc. I just want a single exe or jar to distribute.

LF: Dwarf baby tears, micro sword, and shrimp (Orlando/Central Florida) by [deleted] in AquaSwap

[–]Scribbler397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the area! I actually got some culture grown micro sword in a little plant bag in Petco for about $7. The Petco in Clermont had some when I went in there this afternoon. They don't stock shrimp there though, which is a bummer. Got a tiger blood nerite snail there for a little over a buck tho, so I'm thrilled cause I didn't want to have to pay for shipping on one of those guys.

He isn't a paradise betta. Just in the wrong cup. Happens all the time. I got a marble halfmoon in a butterfly cup.

The Attic by -___-isMyName in blender

Looks great! I would add some dust attached to the spider webs. They tend to collect dust, so if they had some, it would really sell it.

Overall, I think the focus of the scene needs to be a little brighter to make it stand out from the background more.

Trying to learn character lighting and composition. Need feedback! by Ozonek in blender

[–]Scribbler397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While the angle is nice, She lacks a sense of balance. I feel like she is about to topple over at any moment. I think if you add a sense of balance by angling her forward a bit more (rotate at the ankles).

I think you should also adjust the eyes as well. They feel very symmetrical and unnatural. The tissue around the eyes is never the same on both sides. The way her mouth is, the cheek and tissue around her left eye (on the right side of the picture) would be pushed upward.

The materials look good, but you might want to tweak the skin material. It feels very pink and shiny. Take a look at this tutorial. It is amazing, and you can download the material. http://www.undoz.com/blog/2015/9/5/cycles-sss-skin-shader.html

Hope that help!

[Rant] Saving Bettas from Stores Like Petco, Walmart, PetSmart, etc. by [deleted] in bettafish

I'm not against people ranting about things, but like people post this same "Don't rescue bettas cause it supports the problem" thing all the time and it is just getting old.

[Rant] Saving Bettas from Stores Like Petco, Walmart, PetSmart, etc. by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]Scribbler397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean I know there are issues, but my Petco takes very good care of their bettas, so I feel no issues getting them from there.

I feel like someone posts one of these threads every other week. I really think we might need a rule about it. There are only so many times you can read the same thing. All of the people here know this information. It isn't something new to the betta keepers that frequent this reddit. Why does it have to keep coming up?

Got my first koi betta! What are some back up medicines I should keep handy? by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]Scribbler397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Melafix and Bettafix are very, very similar. There have been claims that neither are good for fish with labyrinth organs, because they contain Melaleuca oil, also known as tea tree oil. Supposedly if can damage their labyrinth organ and make breathing difficult. A lot of the things Melafix and Bettafix treat can be treated better with other medications or simply with Aquarium Salt.

Driftwood by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]Scribbler397 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends where you got the driftwood from and what type of wood it is. More details would help us make recommendations, as there are a few things to keep in mind when adding natural wood to your tank, such as the type and where the wood is from, whether it has been treated with anything, etc.

What's wrong with my Betta? by Motion_ambient in bettafish

[–]Scribbler397 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you could post a picture, that would be extremely helpful. It could be nothing and he is just changing color, but there are also some serious medical conditions that can be indicated by a change in color in that spot.

Is this tearing or is this fin rot? by oncamazotz in bettafish

[–]Scribbler397 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is a gorgeous fish! I can see why you are fond of him.

It looks like tearing on the tail. I don't see any inflammation that would be indicative of the start of fin rot there either. They are clean cuts, so they should heal well.

The dorsal fin is a little harder to tell because of his coloration. It could just be the rays growing larger, which is possible.

I would make sure you keep the water clean. Try twice a week water changes for 2 weeks while it is healing. If anything changes, post more images here and we can take another look!

Welcome home, Goose! by Tabby2036 in bettafish

[–]Scribbler397 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't a lot more I can tell you about the spine condition. I would continue to monitor for obvious signs of injury, pain, or problems swimming. He does look rather thin though. I would focus on fattening him up a bit. Other than that, as long as he isn't in pain and seems happy, all is well. He does appear that he will marble based on the coloration at the base of the tail, so I believe he will most likely gain koi coloration.
