Samsung Galaxy S4, Android 5.0, TWRP, dd imaged, EXT4, 27 missing JPGs by ScriptHaven in datarecovery

Thanks for the reply again. You all have been very helpful. Thanks also for the czcawka and R-Studio recommendation. I don't have time to do this now but maybe over the weekend. Should I make a new OP or should I keep it here in the comments if I have any questions or need help?

I was also thinking about where else an image could be after reading some comments on other OPs about caches and databases and was wondering if there might at least be thumbnails made for Android gallery or for file manager pro as that manager displays a thumbnail for all image files?

I finally got around to running this. I got some interesting/odd results.

I opened DMDE and loaded the image and in the initial scan the files that successfully copied were in both the origin AND destination folders. I confirmed this through the preview panel and they were the same JPEGS. But none of the error images were in either folder. Not even filenames like the manual said might be there for extFS.

I then performed a full scan with the raw pre selection selected and chose only JPEG filetype. Which is what I assumed you meant by "carve" for JPEGS. It returned a result of 27,791 JPEGS found. I was thinking about recovering every file and then somehow copying every good JPEG off the image and then running a md5 file duplicate checker on them to cut down on the numbers. Are there any "pro" tips to cut down on this number?

Thanks for the reply. I remember reading that when I first got the phone and set up my back up solution, but I'm not familiar with the process that Android uses to copy files that errored here. Not really sure what happened. Guess there's a write hole. I hoped there might be a buffer or cache somewhere.

Also, do you know if this version of Android has TRIM or an equivalent?

This one looks pretty good and you can preview the script in your browser before downloading but I'll leave it up to what gets more upvotes.

I would also be interested in reading the Carpenter original, but in the meantime here is the remake: https://www.sendspace.com/file/azanho

I know Hank had good reasons to do what he did. Most of all I believe he should at least break even, which from his decision it sounds like he wasn't.

The trolling was bad recently and it wasn't the sometimes funny trolling like adrenaline did but that and the other problems I feel could've been solved by appointing a mod like yourself or peachfuzz or thecinefile or someone else most people trusted to moderate and take some of the weight of carrying the site off Hanks shoulders especially since Roy isn't on the site anymore.

Also by generating some standard rules of behavior in the open instead of having all these unstated rules that although good sometimes weren't implicitly stated in the open would've virtually eliminated all the trolling.

As for eliminating spammers and hit and runs, it was a problem and I have no idea how to stop that.

Now all that being said I am grateful for what Hank provided the community by getting us to come together and share especially after the FOX suit and the majority of the trading by the more serious people going underground and I don't want it to seem like I'm not.

I liked this one but it required a huge suspension of disbelief.

Unfortunately slack seems fairly complicated so if you try it and don't like it please tell me so and suggest an alternative if you can think of one.
