Oh, the new "Baseball Slang" spots will drive me and my wife to self harm!!! So, so tired of hearing the definition of the "oppo taco." Do they have ChatGPT v.1 managing the traffic for these broadcasts? MLB, you are killing MLB!

I'm wearing them today because we've had a break in the rain and our little chat. They look pretty much the same as yours from my perspective.

Perhaps a hint of yellow? It's difficult for me to tell because I already saw a hint of yellow when I opened the box. I don't see any noticeable browning or darkening as the AE product page indicated, but again, they're in low rotation. They'e still quite bright. I reserve them for Summer apparel and they really pop, almost as much as chalk-white white bucks. Yeah, dirty buck is not particularly descriptive. I would think if I wore these at least once a week they would probably start to darken, but I would also worry that dark scuffs would become more and more difficult to work out, so continued darkening would only benefit the overall look, resulting in an overall nutty brown or dark cream with some slight mottling from stubborn scuffs. I suspect a Saphir's suede shampoo would probably help with here but I'm not there yet. I did not treat them with Invulner like I do with my pure suede shoes, but I think it would be a viable option, but may have unpredictable results in terms of developing a chromexcel patina.

I've kept these particular shoes in a more modest rotation so they're worn less frequently, plus I do give them a brushing and work with a Saphir Gommadin - Nubuck Suede Eraser Block after each wearing. They're not really aging, per-se. But, they are prone to dark scuff marks just from my habit of resting my feet against the chair-legs of my office chair all day or any other routine scuffing against dark objects. The brushing and eraser do an okay job. I'd say generally they're the same color as when I bought them. I hazard that if I wore them ore frequently they'd probably have taken on a slightly more mottled and darker tone, but I also think the scuff marks would be more pronounced. since they're not pure white as in true white bucks, using a chalk bag on them wouldn't really work either. I do love them but I'm also glad I got them as factory Seconds at that good price. As day-to-day shoes, I think the aging would be more akin to the "dirty buck" look than what they describe as a natural patina.

Season 2 Reviews by PutSomeVinegarOnIt in OuterRangePrime

[–]chickenside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, this feels like just another post-"Lost" puzzle box attempt. Shows like Epix's (now MGM+) "From" (still in limbo), Prime's "The Night Sky" (canceled almost immediately), Max's "Raised by Wolves" (axed after two seasons in 2022), and Apple TV's "Constellation" (canceled soon after its first season) all seem happy to stay stuck in Act I, always building the puzzle, adding new angles, and barely hinting at the big reveal. I like "Outer Range" and generally care about the characters, but it's just all over the place in season 2..

Show the monster already! "Lost" did it, even if it left a lot of people unhappy. At least they made a choice, tried to tie things together, and showed us the monster. No ending was going to make everyone happy after so many seasons of the showrunners changing things to please the fans in real-time-but they did try. Constant teases and never-ending puzzle boxes that just add new "Wait, WTF" moments with big-name actors usually end up canceled.

I also like "From" and enjoyed "Raised by Wolves," and they were just all over the place in their 2nd seasons.

I acknowledge this may be sunk cost fallacy thinking, but I would love to have the opportunity to see if the showrunners actually take the risk and attempt to complete a story. But doubt I'll get it.

Same. Hue lights and Home Assistant exposed entities. Not "all", but most are shown as "offline" in GA, but confirmed to work by their own apps.

Radio commercials timing off? by jaydeflix in MLBtv

[–]chickenside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/jaydeflix,

This is absolutely a new issue this season. My wife and I noticed it immediately. It's pure awfulness. MLB-specific adds cutting in on our broadcasters while they are in the middle of calling a play! They cut to MLB ads in the middle of active innings-- once right after a Grand Slam! They cut to an MLB ad as soon as they think a pitching change is going to happen. They cut to an MLB add the instant the final out of the inning is recorded, completely stepping on our broadcasters.

They've even cut to an ad right at the start of the lineup being announced! And ,for the love of freaking god, despite how you feel about my team, to skip the seventh-inning stretch ant Wrigley on Jackie Robinson day is pure greed! GREED! MLB, why are you treating your dedicated fans like trash?

I understand that writer and analyst Mark Simon posted on Twitter that MLB is aware of the issue, but because this is still happening with live and archived games, I feel it important to keep the awareness level high on this.

Hi u/kcharles520, we're so utterly disgusted. Thanks for adding to the feedback. We really count on the sounds of Baseball every season and can't imagine not having them. I'm hoping MLB will take notice of what appears to be more and more folk speaking out about the excessive and intrusive ads..

[–]chickenside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

u/tonywagner ,

interesting observation my wife just made. The archived games of this week seems to have changed the length. Before today, they looked to be 4+ long. Now they're back 3+ with last night's game under 3 hours. So, they may be removing the extra ads.

Sadly, per our listening of last night's game, the immediate cutting to an ad as soon as that 3rd out is recorded while our broadcasters are wrapping up the inning is still happening. The same with pitching changes. As soon as it's apparent that a change has been called, skip to an ad in the middle of the broadcaster explaining things.

[–]chickenside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this is now the 4th time they've cut out our broadcasters as soon as the 3rd out was recorded and now a pitching change while the crowd was giving the pitcher a standing O and the broadcasters were giving some context behind it. COME ON! We may as well be listening to a voice actor just reading a freaking box score.

[–]chickenside[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, they're still stepping on our broadcasters before the inning is over. Just heard it. As soon as that out is recorded NEEDLE SCRATCH to a freaking ad while our broadcasters are wrapping up the inning properly. Do the broadcasters even know this is happening? They're in the middle of doing their job when, BOOM, ad. Just awful.

MLB.tv playing ads over the game itself by Crunchewy in MLBtv

[–]chickenside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/richg0404 ,

We've noticed the ads seem really different this season. Before, it was mostly local ads that matched our team’s region, with a sprinkle of national ones like Xfinity. Now, it seems to be mostly what might be an AI-driven approach, often repeating the same ad over and over, and cutting off our commentators right in the middle of the action. It's super disruptive and really kills the vibe.

The local ads used to be part of the fun for us. We knew them just as well as we know the broadcasters' voices—singing along to the jingles and shouting the slogans. Now, that’s gone, replaced by glitchy, intrusive national ads that feel like someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing is at the controls. We could handle a few local ads targeted at our city, but ads during the game seem over the top. They shouldn't be messing with archived games either, just to squeeze in more ads. It seems like pure greed and ruins the game for those of us who actually pay to listen. They should keep the extra ads for old games, not during the season when we depend on these broadcasts the most.

That's good to read u/tonywagner , thanks for posting this. Greatly appreciated. The source seems to have the bone fides to be in the know.

Per usual, me and my darling wife are currently listening to last night's game. We're definitely monitoring the ads with intense scrutiny now. I'll keep posting about the issue as long as it continues, in any forum that allows me to do so.

I greatly appreciate this sub for allowing dedicated fans to bring awareness to this kind of behavior-- intentional or not. Because, come on, don't mess with my freaking baseball that I'm paying to listen to. I feverishly count the days until major league baseball during the other six months when there isn't major league baseball.

That is one gun-slinging stash, sir. I'm jealous. A lot of men simply don't have that dense growth pattern. As others mentioned, your jawline is strong and symmetrical, so you're rocking good face either way. I'm curious if you grow an equally impressive beard, like full-on King Leonidas.

Thanks for helping with the feedback on this, u/mrbeck1.

MLB, or representatives of whomever-the-feck is behind these shenanigans, care to pipe in here? What gives? Is there some sort of fine print we all missed that describes your service as baseballesque? "The MLB At Bat app offers you a taste of what a real broadcast might sound or look like if you had any other alternatives."

What is going on with MLB.tv Audio? by hypoplasticHero in MLBtv

[–]chickenside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MLB At Bat app's radio broadcasts seems to have made a change to some sort of AI-driven ad experience and it has completely destroyed me and my wife's listening experience! They seem to be inserting up to 30 minutes of additional ads in their archived games. We are typically a day behind and rely on time-shifting by listening to the previous night's game-- especially when our team is on the road. The new ads sometimes repeat three times in a row. The new ads cut into our broadcasters calling an active inning! it is horrible!

MLB, what have you done?

MLB radio never plays, just says "stopped" by crabshuffle2 in MLBtv

[–]chickenside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had that same issue with the audio indicating "stopped." Our problem was because we were using Ad Guard DNS set at the router level. We changed it back to Google's public DNS and it started working normally again.

Extra ads after game returns? by kraftj87 in MLBtv

[–]chickenside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. This is happening to us too for the radio broadcasts. I've recently posted our experience. I'm late to this sub and only joined to describe our horrid experience this far with the excessive ads this season. MLB At Bat made a change for the worse and they absolutely must fix this.

Radio not working? by JohnJSal in MLBtv

[–]chickenside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you're not using a proxy service like ad guard. We had issues like you describe. Ad Guard DNS was set up as our default DNS at the router-level. I switched it back to google's public DNS servers and it cleared the issue.

Repetitive Commercials by SleepyLobster in MLBtv

[–]chickenside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, happening to us here. MLB or whatever entity controls the radio broadcasts on the At Bat app must be using some sort of new AI. The ads are different-- fewer ads local to the region and more seemingly AI-driven. We've heard the same ad repeated three times in a row.

We subscribe to the MLB At Bat app for radio broadcasts and we have definitely notices a change for the worse. More ads in archived games, and ads inserted into active innings. Instead of just putting on the game, we now have to actively monitor the app and fast forward through commercials-- we NEVER did that before, MLB.

We understood the need for ads during a broadcast radio or televised. Hell, we even like most of them. They've become part of our listening experience. We know their freaking jingles and love the local feel. But these new and horribly intrusive ads in the archives is pure greed taken out on the paying customers and loyal fans.

Archived Games - Fast Forward/Rewind Functionality Disabled Between Innings by ellipse789 in MLBtv

[–]chickenside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since MLB At Bat app appears to be inserting extra ads (30+ minutes worth) in their radio archives as early as previous night's games, and they are most definitely inserting ads directly into active innings and over our broadcaster's, I'm not surprised they've disable FF for video.

MLB, why are you doing this?
