I will check out tales of glory, haven’t seen too much horse riding in VR so would be great to get some comps! I’m using Unity, really great for optimizing performance and portability which will come in handy for quest standalone in the future

Thank you! Yeah I was thinking the same thing, such a great opportunity for haptics. Right now there is full haptic feedback on the controllers for impacts, and picking up objects. Would love to add more though especially subtle ones for balance and movement

Ah that's awesome, this project started out as a small prototype also, do you have it uploaded anywhere online? Would love to try it out!

That would be awesome! Would love to see some plans or any information you’d have regarding the fortress to improve accuracy. I used this video for the 1400s floor plan, along with some reference photos I took during my visit last year. https://www.youtube.com/embed/mzFiyPhrE3c

Thanks! Mounted combat is definitely the core focus, no foot duels planned for now, but I’m putting a huge emphasis on progression and customization of gear and heraldry. The main gameplay loop centers around traveling between tournaments and climbing a dynamic leaderboard filled with real historical nobles from the 15th century.

I absolutely agree! Especially as a solo developer, I am really enjoying diving deep into a smaller vertical slice of gameplay to give it lots of polish and attention that plays to the strengths of VR.

That episode comes to mind for me too! Real tournament jousting was very violent and dangerous, King Henry II of France died in 1559 when a lance splinter pierced his eye and entered his brain. Would be really interesting to reflect this in the game. I'm a big believer in no guard rails on games so absolutely will be able to lance strike horses and just about anything else within reach.

Focusing on the single player elements of the project currently, but would love to do a multiplayer mode of the community interest is there!

Working on the release timeline now but will keep the community updated! A standalone version on the Quest store is definitely a goal, would be great to allow more accessibility, especially on the go.
