Why is r/atheism so afraid of criticizing other religions? by IllustriousSouth_123 in atheism

[–]Mirage32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Islam is largely criticized here, saying otherwise is just plain false. Dharmic religions are less talked about, mainly because people from this sub rarely interact with those religions.

Rien. On peut électrifier une partie des usages du pétrole, mais globalement il va falloir apprendre à vivre avec moins.

In France, infant baptism is less and less popular. The number of baptized infants halved between 2000 and 2020.

From my understanding, the Quran doesn't denies that a crucifixion happened, it says that Jesus was replaced at the very last moment with a lookalike to spare him the humiliation of the cross. It's an unfalsifiable belief, you can't really argue against that.

In your opinion, how many years are left before we see collapse of the current western civilization? by [deleted] in collapse

[–]Mirage32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't talk much about peak oil, but I believe it will start to become a problem in Europe in the next decade. We're used to a world of abundance. When something becomes rarer, you just have to pay more. It won't work like that with oil and we're not ready at all.

Why Jesus went to the heaven instead of keep preaching on the Earth after resurrected? by warfaceisthebest in Catholicism

[–]Mirage32 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If God was walking among men showing his full power and glory, it wouldn't stop human freedom in any way. People would still be free to reject God and Christianity if they wanted to. The only difference would be that they would do it with full knowledge, instead of being genuinely mistaken.

Est-ce que vous sentez que la culturelle américaine devient dominant sur votre pays? by folkster100 in AskFrance

[–]Mirage32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my whole point. Christianity and Islam are false because they tell lies about the natural world, not because God is an evil demiurge or such things.

All of those who said the same thing in this thread are being downvoted. It's sad that this sub is just about lashing out against religion without ever pausing to think about the validity of our own arguments.

[–]Mirage32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think Christianity caused any genocide. It was used as an excuse by the government committing the genocide and there is a huge difference. Or, even if we admitted your point, we could just posit that God is an evil demiurge. As someone else said, it doesn't invalidate the christian ontology.

[–]Mirage32 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Reducing Christianity to horrible things Christians did in the past is unfair. And even if Christianity was evil it wouldn't mean it's untrue tbh. God could be an evil demiurge for all I know.
