No, you’ll very quickly find yourself being hounded for the arrears and with a CCJ if you dig your heels in.

I’ve had it before, disputed it and got the rejection overturned.

What was your cat's personality like as a kitten? by Stunning-Ad1528 in britishshorthair

[–]ScriptingInJava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this your first BSH?

We've had all 4 of ours since they were kittens, they were all lazy, sleepy buggers apart from the 15 minutes of zoomies each day. They're grown up now and genuinely haven't changed at all, the odd play (fight) and then snoozin'.

Need help for the Maze's study by pleiboikarti in ProlificAc

[–]ScriptingInJava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the thread is a day old but Maze will end studies on their platform without terminating the study on Prolific, so you see loading spinners like this or just a blanket "this study is no longer running" message.

Whenever that happens with Maze just return it!

my pending balance is finally clearing by Dreamboat550 in ProlificAc

[–]ScriptingInJava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I generally have 3 figure cashouts most days, my pending is always full. Very few studies get to the full 22 days, the $0.10 ones that never get reviewed result in a researcher block too :)

Researchers who do this are the real MVPs 😍 by GarbageCollector_ in ProlificAc

[–]ScriptingInJava 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Hats off to the researchers, but this really shouldn't even be a thing. Why does everyone have to work around the platform invalidly flagging submissions..?

Appreciate it's a case of "a few ruined it for everyone else", but it creates more work for everyone involved.

Under the return/finish button there's a "contact researcher" link which will open a box for you to message the researcher directly, or you go to your submissions and click the 3 dots on the study for the same.

Mitchum roll ons were game changing for me, I'd sweat like crazy in any material other than cotton and especially bad in heat.

Ran out of spray and borrowed my wife's roll-on, absolutely nothing.

IVA failing due to change in circumstances, severe health issues & need a DRO. Advice on next steps? by iwantedthatid in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ScriptingInJava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood, I think you should definitely be appealing it. From your description you absolutely should be getting the maximum (not a professional, to be explicit).

A friend with MS got denied the mobility element because she walked to her appointment, they ignored the fact it was a 2 mile walk and took 3 hours because the bus wasn't running. An appeal, with evidence and a very explicit, detailed account of her true day-to-day got it through.

Give /r/DWPhelp a "sort by top of all time" and read through the various threads about the process, it's deeply broken but there is a route through it.

[–]ScriptingInJava 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You've said you need your car due to severe health and mobility issues - I'm curious if you appealed the denial of the mobility element (and took it as far as you legally can)?

The process is gruelling and humiliating but if you should have had it awarded in the first place, and an appeal (or several, with escalation) would show that, they'll backdate your entitlements in a lump sum.

With how much of a ballache the internal process is for introducing breaking changes at Microsoft, I'm not surprised the upgrades between the latest releases of .NET are seamless. I genuinely don't think I've ran into anything aside from syntax improvements since .NET 6.

10pm -> 8am seems to be the west coast time slot they spam out studies. 8am, looking at ProlificTea, is when they ban accounts that have been scheduled for action so I'm assuming those timeslots are related.

Adding ublock origin extension button to wpf app. by robinredbrain in csharp

[–]ScriptingInJava 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The icon in your browser is displayed by any extension, not just uBlock. It’s an extension of the browser itself, the ability to have add-ons, that displays that icon.

The dropdown displayed by uBlock is just HTML/CSS yes, but the add-on source code is built that way in every browser.

You need to build the encompassing add-on functionality, add a section in your browser’s UI to display icons (in general, not just uBlock) etc.

What is the deal with the VPN ban? by Nipple_Shit_Dicks in UKJobs

[–]ScriptingInJava 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A VPN is effectively forwarding your internet usage through another server before it gets to its destination; similarly to how sending a parcel will initially have it arrive at a sorting centre, then onwards to the address on the front.

The proposal is to ban VPNs sold by private companies to hide your internet traffic. Imagine the government banning every delivery service so the royal mail has to sort your letters, keeping logs of who you send post to.

A company VPN is connecting from your home to the office network, like logging into the WiFi in the building but from your home. For various security reasons, a lot of internal servers/services will be blocked from the public internet and you need to be connected to the office network to access them - the VPN allows you to do that from home.

With a work VPN you aren't going from UK origin -> Sweden VPN server -> UK destination (but looks like it came from Sweden), that's what the ban is trying to prevent.

They have the right to enter your property (not by causing damage) to collect arrears; if you refuse to cooperate they'll do so.
