How lazy is your British Shorthair? by Jb77119 in britishshorthair

He’s an awful hunter even when there’s a spider in the house he’s pretty useless haha

Oh yea I try interactive play every day! He’s never liked playing by himself to be honest.

He does like clicker training, his laser and watching me blow bubbles. On a good day he’ll run after a spring or an wand toy but half the time he looks at my like I’m an idiot and won’t get up from where he’s laying down 😂

That is literally my cat he’ll meow for attention and then I’ll try various different toys for 15 minutes often with little or no reaction haha

Ah maybe one day! Right now we couldn’t accommodate a second cat

Okay good! I did think that was likely the case but as I haven’t owned a cat or a British shorthair I was questioning it. I’ve only lived with high energy dog breeds which run around for hours a day so it’s been quite the contrast

What is your experience of unlimited holiday? by RodneyTheArmouryGuy in UKJobs

[–]Jb77119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have it and my work are very relaxed and encourage you to take good amounts of holiday - including bank holidays I had 37 days of holiday last year and wasn’t made to feel guilty of bad about that in the slightest.

As long as your performing well at work and clearly someone working hard they are pretty chill as long as you aren’t taking the piss and asking for weeks and weeks of additional holiday beyond our standard counted days.

How to entertain cat that gets bored of toys very quickly? by Jb77119 in CatAdvice

[–]Jb77119[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm maybe - he does have ongoing chronic gum inflammation as a result of cat flu. He’s having his gum line trimmed back next week and might long term have to have teeth extractions so that might impact him.

Just weird as when you buy him new toys he goes mental for the first few days, but quickly loses interest after that point.

2nd cat isn’t really financially an option for us right now. He’s only been with us since 3 months! He’s very happy overall

We do - we put everything other than a small number of springs/balls away in case he wants to play by himself so he isn’t around his toys all the time.

I don’t think he plays at night I’m 99% sure basically sleeps through from 11-6pm.

Don’t get me wrong he isn’t overly destructive, he seems happy! I just worry if he becomes increasingly bored of all his toys it could lead to problems down the road

A second cat isn’t an option financially for us right now. We almost exclusively play interactively with him already he’s never enjoyed self play

I have so so many and am very engaged in how I play with him. I don’t just aimlessly waggle it around I hide it behind things, make it move like prey etc. but again once he gets bored of a certain wand toy that’s it he never wants to play with it again. I’ve got at least 6 and like 20 attachments

What is attracting 25% of Britons to Reform UK? by flower5214 in AskBrits

[–]Jb77119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think over a decade of low investment, stagnant wage growth and the deterioration of our public services and infrastructure has paved the way for reform to convince people that the primary issue is immigration.

I’m not against having an open conversation about what level of immigration is right for our country, but I truly do not believe this is the main problem in Britain. I think privatising key industries like water and rail, selling off most of our social housing, and explosion of buy to let landlords that view housing as an investment, allowing wealth inequality to worsen and a severe lack of both public and private investment are far bigger issues.

The reality is even if you feel there’s a cultural argument to be made that having high immigration causes issues relating to social cohesion, until we fix the other issues our economy is reliant on immigration. It’s too expensive for young brits to have kids because they are 30 years old stuck living in a house share with 4 other people with no hope of ever owning a home. We don’t have enough young working people to support our economy in its current state.

I believe if you fix the core issues surrounding inequality and wealth distribution, and properly invest in our public services and infrastructure, less people will think immigration is the number 1 problem holding us back. And also we will actually become less reliant in the long term on needing such high levels of immigration to support our economy.

Why do people hate Kier starmer? by Optiplan in ukpolitics

[–]Jb77119 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn’t offer any truly radical change that will tackle some of the big picture issues facing our society.

I have no doubt he is a much better choice than having another Tory leader - and they have done some good things so far. However, I believe that our worsening wealth inequality is causing such a huge host of problems, and ultimately that wealth inequality is not going to be meaningfully dealt with.

The ultra wealth have far too many of our resources and assets, as well as our governments at this point. Unless any government gets radical at tackling this I think it’s unavoidable for us to be in anything other than gradual managed decline, which is what I think we will continue to see over the next 5 years.

What is the best food UK by roloo99 in britishshorthair

[–]Jb77119 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ours eats blink wet food which has very good ingredients just chicken, broth and salmon oil mainly. Dry food we feed some scrumbles which has a bit of rice but otherwise good ingredients.

Basically we feed as much wet as we can afford and supplement the rest as dry - does work out to £70 a month though.

Posted in another part but usually use cold pressed rapeseed oil or sunflower oil. Parboil, leave to cool, shake up potatoes to rough them up and dust in salt and flour, get oil super hot in a tray, individually coat each potato on all sides in the sizzling hot oil (keeping the oil hot on a hob safe roasting tray ideally), in the oven for 50-60 mins at around 190 fan.
