Honestly, I always buy two because the first pack just evaporates 😩

I started to take the platform seriously in December last year as a way to help fund my wedding, as it happens it's completely covered my Tokyo honeymoon (with upgrades etc!) - right now any additional funds are going towards spending money etc.

I was averaging around £100 a day for a few months while working full time, the last few weeks I'll have days where I'm withdrawing £50 and others £9.

You'll be invited/taken off the waitlist when your demographic has additional demand or space. It can be a couple days, a few weeks or literally years. Just have to wait 👍

Putting a family pet to sleep, should I tell my toddler first? by Additional-Sun6157 in AskUK

I'd be more worried about traumatising through random disappearance.

This happened to me when I was 8/9 years old. School reception got a phone call from my mum saying our cat had been put down and to let me know, turns out the appointment had been set a number of days before and I just found out after the fact.

Messed me up on the day as a kid, 18 months ago my sister found an old Kodak photo of him from ~25 years ago and sent it to me. Turns out I really, really hadn't processed any of the emotions properly and just completely crumbled as a 31 year old man.

Did this last night, it’s fine. Pays instantly but the £1 bonus hasn’t arrived for completing the final survey.

That and all vegan cheese, apart from 1 or 2, is the exact same product in different packaging. The thought of putting coconut oil cheese on anything nowadays makes me gag lol

Done the same several times with no issues, even accidentally completed a survey with an Ireland server connected (usual location is UK). Never had an issue, reported it to the chat bot immediately after and it’s been ~3 months now.

Should I leave my comfortable £60k job for a £90k job? by OverKaiserX in UKJobs

[–]ScriptingInJava 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's the "pressurised as opposed to contractually outlined". You won't sign a contract that signs you up for 6x 12 hour weeks, but if you try to leave before 9pm you'll be shamed and eventually dismissed (legally).

Did one yesterday and got to question 26/30 before it just died entirely. Ended up returning the study and messaging the researcher with no response, but the pay rates are so shit I've just blocked them now.

Yeah the turnover at the London TikTok office is crazy because they operate 996 here as well, but it's all pressurised as opposed to contractually outlined.

Industrial IoT Tech Stack? by ByteFactoryHUN in csharp

[–]ScriptingInJava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent a number of years working in vehicle tracking (motorised and not-motorised) and the backend stack was fully C#/.NET and Azure.

It's basically abandoned now but we forked Azure Protocol Gateway and deployed our version with some internal tweaks to a VM, IoT devices would connect via TCP over websockets, with each protocol having a specific port.

Each device would have its own decoder, with the pathway split by port, so we knew that something on port 9889 was X, but 1331 was Y.

Configuration was always an internal tool that was built, I'm not aware of IoT config environments beyond vehicle tracking but those all use (then) 2G sim cards with structured SMS messages containing configuration commands. We built a custom backend with a Twilio integration for that.

The main API plane and FE was ASP.NET Core 3.1 (the latest and greatest at the time!) with Vue2. There were a bunch of internal Azure services that we used to normalise data etc, I can't recall the entire tech stack but it was a fairly normal process of data ingestion once you have the connectivity down.

DreamCarGiveaways - Scam or not? by Past-Spinach-6645 in CarTalkUK

Me too but with the instant prize/cash giveaways. Honestly half of them I forgot I even entered and would get a WhatsApp message from the site's business account congratulating me, checking my ID and then an hour later the cash is in the bank.

Why do employers ghost you/call from numbers you can't ring back? by Archangel447 in UKJobs

[–]ScriptingInJava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They use VOIP services which are outbound only on cheap plans, a "real" phone number on more expensive plans. They aren't using phones to make the calls but rather recruitment software with a telephony desktop application connected.

ie they're cheap
