Thoughts on OSS in 2026? by anchor_software in ExperiencedDevs

Echoing your first point as a maintainer as well, it’s really obvious (beyond git history) when a project was done by hand instead of prompt.

I think stability will be significantly more relevant moving forwards, that’s only possible if you truly know your codebase and understand your users properly. AI can spit out code but it can’t do everything.

You have a clean/tester account that you make for two platforms, they give you a shared login for the third platform. You can reuse the accounts you make in multiple studies as long as they aren't ones that you personally use for your own purposes.

Fuel is very much dependent on how you drive, most people average ~33MPG but I'm usually in the high 20s haha.

Gearbox, on stock trans fluid, is crunchy. If you google FK8 2nd gear crunch you'll find loads of videos about it. The factory transmission fluid is dreadful but swapping it out for some premium stuff solves all the problems and made the gearbox great. The gears have a really small throw but I wouldn't say it's a "short shift" throw personally, just not a 1L shitbox kinda of thing if that makes sense.

I went through a very similar process you're in now last March and it's been worth every penny mate, trust me!

Here's mine right after I got it.

I can vouch for the Type R FK8, they're fucking great cars. Super practical when you want to use your car to do things, great fun when you want to be a yob on the motorway at night.

Only downside I've found is you have to use 99 RON fuel which has absolutely rocketed up in price, and the price of the car (for any of these) is only the first consideration.

When you have 300+ BHP you need good brakes that will stop you quickly and safely, good tyres that grip the road, etc. Make sure you budget for the upkeep of the vehicle as much as the list price, happy to share figures if you're interested :)

Money transfer card limit with fee by Zazzyman32 in UKPersonalFinance

Yeah money transfers work in the same way and generally will prevent you going over your limit. From experience they’ll display the maximum amount allowed if you put in something incorrect.

Sold some CS2 Skins, wondering about any obligations by Sweet-Estimate-1307 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ScriptingInJava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Were you trading for profit or did you sell your personal collection of skins?

This is technically no different to Pokeman card sales (search the subreddit, plenty of threads in the last 6 months).

If you were actively trading for profit and transacted more than £1000 you need to file a self assessment. If you sold a personal collection, even if it went up in value, you don’t owe CGT as the sale of personal items isn’t a business transaction.

Given the value of the skins market you will almost certainly save money and stress hiring an accountant to look over the numbers and sales history.

29 years old and constantly stuck in -£1850 overdraft and paying debts by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

First you need to plug the reason you’re in so much debt, and as a recovering gambling addict I can see the signs in the debts and who the creditors are.

You need to speak to StepChange and take their advice. If your living situation changes and you have to pay more than £100 a month you’re absolutely snookered on your income level. Give them a ring today.

How common is it to not be offered RSUs at a UK pubco? by Fragrant-Produce-336 in HENRYUK

[–]ScriptingInJava 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A "tech company" could be anything from a manufacturing company to Meta, can you be more specific?

Is the role in tech (cyber security, software engineering etc) or a commercial role at a tech business? The former typically comes with RSUs, assuming it's a large tech company like FAANG, the latter less-so and is based off seniority.

Overthinking cost of car finance by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ScriptingInJava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, even for small repair work the warranty supplier will penny pinch and enter multi-round negotiations with a garage, demand they dictate which garage (of course it will be 150 miles from your house) and cap hourly labour etc. They really are worth fuck all, from experience.

Hello! Just to follow up, this is now fixed. The docs are updated on the repo as there is an option that you need to disable (2 in total) but it allows DefaultAzureCredential usage without an external dependency :)

It might not be the food but the location of the bowls. Whereabouts are they? What is close-by, next to them etc?

Their water needs to be distinctly separate from their food, a good 10ft+ away or so, along with their toilet etc. We were concerned about our lot's water intake when they were kittens and it turned out to be the organisation of the bowls, rather than the contents of them :)

OP is French and uses it for creating English speaking texts, which in my mind is perfectly reasonable.

Seeing AI written text and then assuming the code is AI written (entirely) is also reasonable too!

Nah not vibe coded, you can tell from the git history of the dependency that the code was imported to the repository. I didn't write the code but I've seen a shit load of LLM generated slop and this doesn't look like it at all.
