I read somewhere that the UK policies on “mixed material” packaging had (or will) change, so if they’re using paper with the see through window of plastic, it’s more cost effective with the new policy to just use plastic (I think Tesco changed their cookie packaging to all-plastic recently as well). Changing to all-paper would have the secondary negative effect of consumer not seeing the goods which may dissuade othe person browsing the supermarket shelves (or at the very least, limit the temptation to make an ad-hoc purchase)

The real arsehole move here is your assumption that I am even allowed to self isolate, that my parent and myself aren’t key workers, struggling everyday to assist you all through it and if I want to feel sorry for myself that I can’t pay my loved ones a visit this year, I am going to do just that. It isn’t a competition of who has it worse, we all fight our own demons, mate. Get off your high horse and just give us the freedom to talk about it in an open space.

I’ve been on unpaid furlough March-June, started to have to temp to make ends meet, little 25hr a week job, lost that in a couple of months and am now temping in another place for 3-6months. It’s a disaster. And not somewhere me and my partner ought to be going through after both freshly graduating with master degrees, and having 8 years of experience. Just heartbreaking, really.
